a complete newbie it seems look for a menu that bring up the "key frame editor" its also is like a little excel table, from there you can delete various bit of geometry from the model, check this out
http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/blackwater/fstut/fstut_index01.htm
this will help you understand the layout of the model, although its slightly different after PCS (simpler if you ask me) if all you want is the lod0 (highest detail) model then you need to detail the folders that are named
debris
detail1,2,3
you make sure the textures appear on the model you need save the original pcx files (as given with the mod) and save them as bmp. they can be found in your freespace2/data/maps/ folder...only convert the one relating to the origin ring station (they begin "ea-orion*****") put the new bmp as the same folder as your new cob model. when loading the model truespace might will most probably ask you were the textures are located simply point to the first texture map it is seeking, it too add that directory to a list of "places to search for textures" and the rest will load automatically

well if this is for some other mod that is anything other than your own personal pleasure (ie your releasing it) you:
a) ask our permission to use it (ask tomcat)
b) credit it us clearly, showing that it is our original work
then you may use it
for all the different lods just repeat the process but delete everything but detail1 folder for example.
once this is done highlight the detail 1 folder (this activates it) and file/save as cob
you will need to convert all "ea-orion" texture maps if you're doing this. and for use in homeworld may i suggest to convert them to 128x128 maps (the orion maps are hiddeous, im going to redo them). you will then have a set of cobs each one with the different lod.

my instructions are very clear, if you cant understand they you have no chance or converting to homeworld by yourself.

Cptwhite - He's talking about the Freespace Orion (ie, the galatea) rather than the TBP orion station.. meaning this is in the wrong forum, but anyway..
You need Truespace.. what you're using looks to be some sort of file viewer.

cpt white, i'm working on a Freespace MOD for homeworld. But don't worry that everybody that helps the mod, will be credited for there help. So when i'm talking about the Orion i'm talking about the Freespace Orion starship and not on the Orion-class starbase form B5. I also only posted here because i think that u guys can help me out on this mod.

well.. importing models into Truspace isn't that hard.. outputting them to Homeworld is something that I don't know anything about, and isn't really in the general expertise of the people here, so you might want to try asking on a homeworld mods board.
