there is this type of music. I dont know what its called. Its like chanting. It just someone going "Aaaaaa" (though changing their pitch) and it sounds really great. It appears in the World of Warcraft cinematic trailer and here: http://www.activision.com/games/medieval_totalwar/ (wait about 2 minutes, its short but sweet)
Can someone who is a bit more knowledgable about music then I fill me in on what that type of music is called. I think its Arabic or something in origin and it sounds really cool. Anyways I think that type of music would be great for any movies or intros (and for ingame too) since it sounds really epic.
Its great that you have your own music studio, and even greater (uhm..is that the right word in this context..ah well) that you are willing to help out ther FS2 commuinnity by developing some tracks. Thanks man.

Metal, preferably Pantera or Soulfly, maybe some In Flames or Dillinger Escape Plan
Nothing beats headbanging and vaping Shivans

*laughs at Rictor's discription of the music*
sorry ... but "It just someone going "Aaaaaa" (though changing their pitch) and it sounds really great" sounds really funny :-d.
Ya, it's Arabic... but I doubt we'd have any arabic musicians around here... hehe.

Certainly NOT punk... You don't go skateboarding in space... Perhaps more techno rock/ fast metal would be appropriate.
Oh, and someone did mention Arabic music... Perhaps he's heard of one of the tracks from a game named Fury 3 called "Sebek"...

I actually work in a recording studio right now, i could probably upload some cool stuff for u guys to upload. I was thinking some classical music by a good freind of mine ron foster (he did the soundtrack from the movie the red violin) I actually think that would work quite well... does anyone smell a new freespace project?.
p.s. Can u imagine playing freespace to some goth rock, lol. I can imagine a pilot in flight, changing radio stations while dogfighting shivans

What about the Total Annihilation music? Somebody could release a guide to ripping music from CDs and incorporating it into FS, using TA as an example. The people that have it could follow the directions (to avoid copyright problems, is is probably best to not distribute examples, etc.) and get some Wagner-ish space battles.
I also like the idea of space battles with metal music, like Rammstein:
BOOM!!!
Hier kommt die Sonne
BANG!!!
Hier kommt die Sonne
.....

You people are so... <struggles to find the right adjective, and fails>
Seriously. Music like in Unreal Tournament would be great, but I really do think that orchestral stuff (think John Williams) would be a whole lot better.
