Trust me guys...the Omega will be worth the wait. Tomcat is doing the last texture for LOD0 which means that you guys are in store for some beautiful pictures followed by some amazing gameplay.
Just yesterday I sent Fury the latest in my table pack. He found it even more improved over what we've done previously. You guys are in store for a much more enjoyable experience in gameplay. We hope to have about 8 single missions for everyone to play by the time that we release R2. I doubt it will be right at Christmas but perhaps shortly after. We want to properly do things and that means that it will take a while.
The other element of this all is that post R2, we will be working on smaller packages of ships and sending them out as patches to the overall whole. So you'll be waiting less time to see ships. The other element of this is that you'll also be seeing some surprises in both R2 and in the upcoming releases.
Finally, we're trying to work out the ships/weapons interface properly so that everyone will get to enjoy being able to select ships and weapons instead of being completely limited by the mission designer.
These things will take some time but should be well worth it.
Post this release, we will also start getting our own Source EXE for everyone. So you'll have blinking lights, slide thrusting, and more real looking hyperspace jump points. But all of this is long term. We will release what we can.

Was it about month or 2 ago when I read Mr. Furys plan where he said he got back, since his personal issues was solved quicklier than he thought.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I just have feeling that I would have read something like that while ago.

Welcome back Fury!
You guys are making my mouth water, litterally. I'm going to need a towel or my keyboard will get wet.
Sounds excellent, keep working!

Close enough to be correct.
Thanks Edwin. I wasn't away for too long in any case.
About Ice's post:
Yes, I am very positive that new gameplay will be much better.

Because this topic is already about pain, let me tell you; Shadow enhanced EA Fusion beams are deadly!
Full range of new screenshots will come as soon as Tomcat finished texturing of Omega and/or Omega-X. The Omega you seen in the screenshot above, is normal untextured Omega equipped with O-X weapons.
Damn freak decimated my Omega and fighter squadron!

IceFire, I'm impressed that Release 2 is coming along so well and has its fair share of surprises too. The source code changes will take a lot of time no doubt but the increases in playability will be worth it. Weapons loadouts, side thrusting, jump point code, etc. are all relatively minor things right now as I can't wait to see the Omega Destroyer in action!!!

Just to remind everybody, R2 will not have source code changes yet.
You can probably download 100% unofficial source code compatible tables at some point, but we do not guarantee they work nor we will give support over it.
Hopefully R3 brings long wanted support to source code changes, then it will be fully supported.
