So, do you know what's going on? Is it some kind of hidden tag, or is it some weird, unexplained thing that would melt your brain if you ever knew it?

if the "corkscrew" flag is set, FS2 is hard-coded to make that have a $swarm tag of 4.

My what a wide screen.

It would be nice if someone made a modification so that turrets like that of the Orion's fire 3 rounds at the same time (instead of alternating guns on the same turret).

That can't be done without extreme source code changes, but you can work around it by creating a Terran Huge Turret (or whatever goes on your turrets) and giving it 1/3 of the fire wait of the original gun, which is what would happen if 3 guns were placed in parallel (the heat output would melt the assembly if they were all fired at the same time).
I have used this in creating a 'laser show' where a Terran and Vasudan battlegroup consisting of 1 destroyer and 6 cruisers each fire at each other with modified 'Training' weapons. This has been combined with some music from FS1 (that doesn't work too well, it cuts out after about 2 loops) and the Komet mod to create a very relaxing (strange, eh?) show with laser bolts a-plenty.
If, on the off chance, anyone wants it, then tell me and I'll package it and try to iron out the bugs. If anybody does want this, it needs the T-V War mod (the GTFg Atropis and PVBC something are used).

this thread inspired me to change around the "corkscrew" tag in FS2, although the changes came a day late for this release, the next release should have the corkscrew changes in it
