The Iceni model is actually more of a blockade runner than a true warship, its weaponry is somewhat lacking compared to a Deimos or a Sobek, it is more suited to running than it is to fighting.

Blah, it's got two BGreens. It can take on any Deimos or Sobek and is better than the Hecate at anti cap fighting.

3 BGreens, actually.

It's lacking in AF weaponry thought, with nothing but TTs and THTs for defense against fighters.

Iceni doesnt stand a chance against an Orion, especially if the Orion gives it a full broadside. A Deimos does rather well against it too.

Actually Iceni can beat Orion and it can also beat Hecate with minimial fighter support.

Deimos does well a while, until Iceni gets in blindpoint and moves Deimos to history.

Deimos doesnt have any blind spots my dear....well, I take that back, there is that one spot on its ventral side....

As for an Orion, a full broadside from an Orion will tear an Iceni apart in 2, 3 salvos tops.

Hecate. you're funny; I wouldn't expect a Hecate to win against 4 Fenris, probably not even 2. Hecates are giant boxes in space with blind spots left and right.

Deimos is very vulnerable from belove and above and mildly vulnerable from sides. Deimos is my favorite terran ship, but I say thst it is quite vulnerable.

For Orion it isn't quite that, tried that and Iceni kicked its ass, but with heavy damage. There are few battle exceptions, but Iceni is more superiorer ship than it looks.

Hecate is vulnerable from side, but only for bigger than Deimos. Hecate is tactical battle ship and it fights with head toward to enemy, just like Deimos (Tried once 2 Deimos vs 2 Hecate in head to head combat, Only thing what survived was other Hecate).

I think the Hecate is more of a command ship, design to co-ordinate rather than participate in attacks.... especially as it's fighter compliment could be responsible for guarding the majority of it's fleet. The Hatshepsut seems a little better equipped for battles IIRC.

I'm not sure - did the Aquitane actively engage any Shivan vessels durings FS2? (as oppossed to defending itself from attack)...

Hecates were supposedly very new and (supposedly according to our trusty Su-Tehp) very scarce with only 1 at the most in each fleet. To me, given their fighter/bomber complement, they are better used as command carriers than close range assault. Its weapons are widely varied which gives it something of everything making it good for a bit of everything without being particularly good at anything. Even in head to head engagements, it only outlasts a Deimos because of its increased hull strength. Basically, its a bigger version of the Fenris.

EDIT: Oh yes, Deimos has a pair of aft beams which can also cover the sides very well. The forward beams can usually hit whatever's above it, which only leaves the bottom, where the aft beams cann't usually hit, but with a top speed of 30ms, not much can stay in that narrow slot and still hit it. IF an Iceni tries to tuck in beneath and stay safe from the Deimos' beams, its own will have hell trying to hit it; given an Iceni's length, if it moves back any, the Deimos' aft beams will be able to nail it with very little if any maneuvering.
