Definately Foundation, Dune, and Niven's stuff. (Ringworld, etc.) Plus Clarke's novels aren't too bad (Rama, 2001, etc.)

Dune series by Frank Herbert is IMO the greatest book(s) of all time. The new ones by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson were just ok (well, Dune: House Atreides was real good, Dune: House Harkonnen was pretty good, and Dune: House Corrino just plain sucked)

'Rendezvous With Rama' is definately one of my favourites, as is 'Fountains of Paradise'. By by old A.C. Clarke.

Everything that Philip K. **** wrote, even though it doesn`t belong strictly to the SF.
Also the caves of steel by Asimov.
but I don`t really read much of S-F.
Two of the very best book I have ever read:
The Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
The Man in the High Castle by P. K. ****.
And I recommend both.

I argee with whoever said that The Wheel of Time was good, just can't wait for the 10th book to come out. Also, the series 'A Song of Fire and Ice'(I think that's it, I'm just not sure on the ice bit) by George R.R. Martin is also very good. I would recomend anyone to read either of these.

I don`t know if you have ever seen or read some books of Stanis³aw (Stanislaus) Lem.
For example Solaris, probably the best known one, or some short stories ( I recommend Terminus ). Its other than an usual SF and sometimes not so easy to read, but I think you can taste it.
