best delete these cheatcodes and make sure no new are possible

anyone needing cheats for FS2 - maybe because he can't even play with the difficulty set to very easy - should stay away from Space Sims...

I wouldn`t do that. Cheat codes can be very useful to mission designers (In fact that's often why they put them in in the first place)

Leave them in. They don`t really do any harm. I don`t know any fan of freespace who hasn`t completed the game without cheats anyway. Keep them in so we can play once we've finished the game.

a missiondesigner can set ships to invulnerable or tell AI to ignore targets - there is no necessity for cheats

IIRC, you can't advance to the next mission when you cheat?

beams using a cylindrical model would look FAR worse than they do now, you cant tell they're flat unless you look at the point of impact and see through the impact effect. The fact is, a mapped beam wouldnt have the glows and gradients of the current beams and would look really dumb, immagine a florecent green tube connecting two ships with a green circle on one end and an explosion on the other. As stated before, this idea is A-1 STUPID.

I've never used cheat codes (not sure how) and I'm pretty sure I finished the game. Will have to play through it again some time. (Been a while since I've done the regular campaign.)

that is something i have suggested the team working on the new FS engine change, to allow for a ship to have a "beam impact layer" like shields, only these stay. That way, we can create the effect that a ship has had its outer hull melted, this would work even better if we could have glowing textures.
