Now we can have real side turrets on the Omega, Warlock, Nova and Hyperion.
There, that's on topic.

In one of the books the forward beams and plasma cannons are on a pivot. Think about it, are you going to leave a ship that's a mile long with NO capital ship grade weapons on it's flanks?
I forget the name of the book- it revolves mostly about the Icarus expedition, but has a lot of Aggy action in it too.

Hrmm a true newtonian physics model is possible now, same with editing the problems with the "fully destroyable ships" with these two things TBP meets some of the main promises of B5: ITF.
Of course with the sourcecode little things like completely new interface art (not just the FS2 ones with custom backgrounds) is possible to a whole new level.

Ok, call me a party pooper, but it's taken this long to get a demo released. Now we're expecting the team to practicly remake FS2 from the ground up? All the other stuff would be great, but we have to remember, the TBP team members do this in their spare time. I for one am not going to ask them to blow any more of that precious commodity on my amusement.

Will animated textures to give ships a more organic look (like shadows and vorlons) be posible now the source code is released.

yeah.. I would imagine it's easy to do, too. All you would probably have to do is modify the Targa image viewer that they built and allow for animated Targa. I really don't know all that much though, so don't ask me too much about it.
