Have you ever read the user agreement on FS2 in it's entirety?
and I quote:
" You may make copies of the Software
for your personal noncommercial home entertainment use and to give to
friends and acquaintances on a no cost noncommercial basis. This
limited right to copy the Software expressly excludes any copying or
distribution of the Software on a commercial basis, including,
without limitation, bundling the product with any other product or
service and any give away of the Software in connection with another
product or service. Any permissions granted herein are provided on a
temporary basis and can be withdrawn by Interplay Productions at any
time. All rights not expressly granted are reserved."

Not funny maybe but does that actually mean what it appears to mean or is it taken out of context/badly worded/out of date now?

Well it might be out of date since Interplay is now FUBAR, if anyone has any current stuff on this I'd love to hear it.

Overpriced games eh? Don't you realise how low the actual price is? The games industry is difficult at best.

Come on, Zero. Ill just take one game for example here: Star Trek Armada 2.
1. When the game came out here where I live, it cost $50.
2. The game was LOADED with bugs and there still isnt a patch that fixes all of them to even make the game bearable.
3. $50 is a VERY high price to pay for a product that doesnt even work properly.
4. The company took advantage of fans that had the first game and gave them an inferior product to use.
Like I said, this is just an example, but I just feel that $50 is a pretty high price for a video game for a PC.

Well I'm hoping that the DVD cases will bring down the price, although that didn't stop the X-Box, GameCube, and PS2 people from charging a heafty fee. I'm all for supporting the industry and those who made the game, but I'd rather see cheaper DVD case versions of games (the DVD case I feel is more robust and yet cheaper and less expensive to produce) and no outrageous cost devoted to the CD's contained within. I'd rather see most of the money go to the game itself.

Its your fault for buying a bad game, the first game was also poor. Read reviews and buy the good ones that deserve to be bought.

It's nothing new; Armada 1 is so full of bugs that it's bearly even worth playing. They only ever released two patches for that, and the second one was under duress. I regularly get kicked back to my desktop while trying to play it, that's with both patches and all the latest drivers, etc.
Fact of the matter is, it's a drain on companies' resources to continue to fix software once it's complete (although it generally isn't complete, even when they do release it). That's why a number of companies are moving over to only console games; they don't have to produce patches, and the support costs are reduced heavily.
Being a software developer myself (although not of games), I can see both sides. Yes, I want software that works flawlessly, but the amount of testing and fixing that is required to make it that way far outweighs the time taken to initally develop it.

I didn't make it up, scroll down some when you read the user agreement. I know it's a lot of legalese to get through, but patience is rewarded.

Well, I guess that goes for the thousands of other fans who bought the game too, Zero? And, personally, I have never bought the game. I took what I posted straight from a STA2 forum. I was just using it as an example.
And as for testing a product and putting out an inferior one, how about they do that with cars, hmm? I think that would get ugly. Just an example, of course.
I suscribe to PC Gamer and make sure I read all of thier reviews. Even though some of them arent on the money, most of them are. They seem to really know what they are talking about when it comes to game reviewing.
Good to be here, Sigma!!!

The Ford Pinto. It had a bolt positioned so that the slightest impact would rupture the gas tank. And you thought poorly tested computer games were bad.
Oh and has anyone else read the user agreement? If somebody does and finds theirs different than mine, I'll shut up.

In response to the "where to find freespace" thing... I found my copy, and about 30 more copies, at Big Lots down here in Tennessee... paid all of $9.95 for it. Wal-Mart is now selling FS1 unboxed for $10, (along with the entire X-Wing series, which, BTW, will NOT run on a Windows 2000 box! ) and I would think it safe to assume FS2 may be hitting Wally World quite soon.
