Bman; yes. The 8500's drivers at launch were awful, I think there's widespread agreement on that. But, they are improving - ATi's learned about driver support. Unfortunately, by the time it surpasses the GF3 Ti500, and surpasses it solidly enough to matter (and IMO it will, eventually) nVidia's new card (NV25 or whatever? Basically what will turn into the GeForce4) will be out. Whoops. ATi needs to come out ahead from the gates, as it were, instead of playing catch-up.
