um, joystick doesn't work well with FS2? What kind of crack are you smoking?
I use a Wingman Extreme Digital 3D, I had very good experiences with my old Sidewinder until it died. :sniff:
I'd say stay away from Saitek's Cyborg 3D - I had to RMA 3 of those suckers. Lame.

Gotta play with a joystick
I'm currently playing FS2 with a mouse - it sucks!
Can't wait to get my Wingman Force setup again - there's nothing like losing your target when ya hit afterburner

Hmph, guess im the only one then. But seriously, with a good key setup dogfighting is WAY easier with a keyboard, and mouse is a must for long range "sniping", I mean, can anyone of you hit a nial at 800 meters with your joysticks. I do have a joystick myself and I do use it for flight sims but IMHO keyboard&mouse are better for fs2.
BTW you should see me flying in multiplayer, guess who has the best hitting percentage....

I'll grant you the sniping point, I jump to the mouse for that also.
pera, what is your KB setup? I am finding that I simply can't keep my target in firing position with a mouse - I can't keep up. I find I have to put some distance on and then re-engage - works against PC but don't work to good against real pilots.

Yeah, its almost impossible to play only with the mouse. I use arrow keys for up, down, left, right movement, and Numpad 1 and 3 for banking. I use the keyboard normally and mouse only at long range.

:cough: I was the TIE Fighter sniper of doom in XvT - with my Sidewinder. A quality 'stick and a light hand on the controls, and I can hit damn near anything at any range.
Oh yeah...a very small deadzone (smallest your joystick will let you use effectively) is key. If your deadzone is like 20% then no, you're not getting anywhere
Believe me - saying mouse and keyboard is better than kb/stick is like people saying CS is better with a trackball. For 90% of the world, "It just ain't so"...

Yep, and 90% of the world doesn't know/like babylon5 so, I'm simply a member of a 10% minor group.

Umm... I really don't know how to explain this in english, but......
Ok, it turns you ship around, not up or down or left or right, AROUND. I hope you understood something.
And BTW it says "bank left/right" in FS2:s control menu.

Bank AKA roll. If you take an axis from directly behind you to directly in front of you then you roll around this axis.

I can hit a Nial at 800m with my SideWinder Precision Pro.
Not all the time, but quite a lot of the time.
It all depends on how you set your sensitivity and deadzone options.
