Why would they have the parts off the Lucifer? That ship exploded and most likely vaporized the majority of its working components. Not to mention that most of it exploded within the corridor. You assume too much.

Some of the Sol ships and weapons have a very small Shivan influence. You might see it, you might not.

Well they can't saty with the old weaps 40 odd years ago because they must have advanced a bit. I mean come on, in less than 60 years we were flying propellar powered fighters planes, look what we have now. Stealth super jets. Make any sense?

They will have new ships and weapons. Kellan and I have spent the last month and a half planning out Sol weapon systems including capital ships (with a whole variety of weapons).

You'll find that Sol ships employ very different strategies over GTVA ships and that they are more specialized in nature. You'll see.

Will there any new ships for Sol? like a flagship or something. Like a new series orion that would look quite impressive then add this plasma weaponry i've been hearing so much about.

And, on a professional note, this should be the best campaign for freespace 2 made thus far. Meaning it would be good until somthing better comes along.

Wasn't Sol the main area for R&D and stuff in FS1, that could mean that after the jump node collaped that went into "research overdrive" producing lots of cool stuff.

That's essentially the story behind the Sol equipment in Machina Terra.

BWO's background for Sol is a little more chaotic but they definately do have serious firepower but in different ways than GTVA ships.

That should be real cool... I want to see the Sol beam alternative... It probably is a rapid-fire-maxim-like-laser, but since there will probably be no weapons specs on the BWO page, we'll have to wait!

what a meant as in Flagship for the sol fleet was a more refined version of the orion a more "rounded" version you know, like the essential differences between the orignal uss enterprise and her refit.

And, if anyone must ask, what i meant by "rounded" is by making the orion fitting in with the overall feel of the game itself that, and the fact it would fit in quite nicely with the theme of sol basically "fending for itself" and thus, developing technologies that are vastly different of the gtva because some of the ships in the gtva fleet have some vasudan influence on them (e.g Colossus). All one would have to do is refine the shape of the hull and the turrets add new weapons and Voila! there you have it a MkII of the orion class destroyers. I, Myself am no modder i have absolutely no experence with modeling programs this is only a thought, a concept i've thought of on a very late and hot night (it's Summer over here) it was just an idea from a tired mind. Please feel free to give feedback as you see fit. No insults please

Hmm the Notion Of Sol wepons is SH*t hot! This is looking extreemly promising in that you seem to have avoided the kind of plot which is far fetched, or breaks with the feel of the Official games thus far.

Well done for that!
(Hope there is a new ML-laser it had a cool sound + itd bring back all those nostalgic Fs1 momories for those of us who prefered the original game...eh...what??...yes there are others who prefere FS1! >(
Keep up the good work dudes

All will be revealed given time, I assure you. However, if I had had my exceptionally secret way you wouldn't even know what was beyond the Charon portal in Delta Serpentis...just to keep you on edge when you go through there.

Ah well. There's still so much you don't know...muwhaha...

Shivans taking over the earth? i know it is a rather stupid idea its story holds about as much feasability as a tea strainer holds water. so, in terms in storyline, wee can expect a few twists and turns? a veratible "can of worms".

With Kellan helping write the story, where can you not have a can of worms.

Believe me, so many people have brought up the idea that Sol was taken over by the Shivans or that the Shivans jumped from Capella to Sol. Silly as it may be, alot of people have suggested it. Shivans have very little direct influence on BlackWater Operations story.

Anyways, lots of interesting things will happen...guaranteed.
