Considering the age of Freespace, we have nothing to complain about. Many better game communities died out only months after game release.
So no one really has a case for a bad word against VW now do they. The sad thing is some of the smaller wackyer sites disappearance, if you do a search on a engine like Yahoo you ocasionaly find an abandoned Fs site on Tripod or Xoom. The trouble you do get frm a lumped site is some loss of diversity. There is no reason why this should happen, but it does.
For those who havent guessed im Epock, hence the conspirace theory. When/If/Ever we see a Volition produced sequalwith a strong base like this the community will explode!

Conclusion: There are three types of FS fan today.

1. These say "Fs will never happen" but they secretly hope that it will.
2.These say "I will make fs 3" they secretly hope V will do it for them.
3. These Know "Fs 3 will happen, someday" But not today.
I wonder, if we all start playing V's new titles will that affect us as a community? There was always so much depth to Fs, and maybe Redfaction cant provide inough to facilitate long term interest. That would be a real shame... Still the more money V make on these two, the more likely Fs3 Methinks.

The fact that we can now do mods on par if not better than Volition's product will add plenty of life to FS2 beyond what we already have.

Red Faction in my honest opinion with the proper advertisement will completely rebuild the FPS community, and will allow plenty of newbies into FS when they see FS2 and things such as the B5 mod and Black Water Operations.
