Yeah Todd, I'd like to see you do a system of three parametric equations by hand, or the equation AX^2+B w/out a calculator. I call those "dynamic variable equations"...no wait, that's what the manual calls them. At any rate, just because I need a calc to do this stuff doesn't mean me=sux0rs. I think you're referring to yourself there.

Listen punk. I know exactly what my calculator can and can't do. You're an idiot if you think the TI's can't do that stuff. I could list a million other things that the TI-83 does, and I'm sure your super duper Casio does the same things. The manuel for my calculator is about as thick as a novel. Can you pronounce manuel? Maybe if you'd pick it up you'd see what the TI-83 can do.

And if you think you're impressing us all by making fun of Todd, you're not. He's exactly right. If you don't know how to do everything you do on your calculator with paper and pencil, you're a moron. Todd was only jesting in good humor, for you to retaliate the way you did was not needed.

Take a pill, and calm down.

It was a joke, lighten up.

My point was, if you can't solve the same math by hand, with paper and a pencil, you have a big problem. Sure, its hard to solve that stuff by hand, but if you're relying on a calculator to do all of your math, and you can't do it by yourself, that's a bad thing.

And just to rub it in your face (teehee ) I have actually done all of the math you just mentioned. By hand.

Well, I don't really think it's even remotely possible to do parametric equations by hand, sorry.

Please don't brag, I'm not impressed anyway, and I'm sorry for bashing you like I have been.

Okay, I'm sorry. Listen though, I know what TI-83's can do, and they just seem to be more limited than my Casio. As I said, about the only thing it can't do about as well as a TI-83 is those TI-BASIC games. My instruction manual is also about as a novel. I already apologized to Todd. Now let's move on to happier topics.

Hehe.. I like my TI-83 Plus, I just write all the formulas in the chapter we need for tests in to a program so I can do the problems really fast.

Hehe, it's spelled "manual," not "manuel."

uh.. how the heck do you think they programmed it into the calculator? It has to be possible or else the calculator can't do it

owned!

And he's right. The only thing my TI-85 can't do (or, at least, I don't know how to code that in there) is implicit differentiation...which is so easy to do by hand, it doesn't even matter.

I see your point there. But still, it would probably be nigh-impossible to do w/out a calculator.

I have no idea what "implicit differentiation" is, so could you explain it?

Calculus....um, it's damn near impossible to type that on a webboard....

but it's taking the derivative of an equation with multiple variables on a single side, e.g. deriving (x^2)(y^3)+3x=3y or whatever.

Or, you can do sneaky stuff like taking the derivative of that equation with respect to a completely different variable like T, but whatever.

Okay Jennings, I found my calculator. Here is EXACTLY what it can do.
Statistical Plots(haven't used that func yet)
Matrix Equations(Stores 26)
Lists(also haven't used yet)
Graphing(Y=, radius, parametric, X as constant, Y>, Y<, Y>=, and Y<=) Stores combined total of 20 of those
Dynamic Variable Graphs(don't understand how it works)
Y= Table Functions(have not used)
Recursion(have not used)
Conic equations(e.g. X=A(Y-K)^2+H (the ^2 means squared)
Simultaneous/Polynomial equations(haven't used)
Programs in Casio-BASIC(similar to TI-BASIC)
Time Value of Money(haven't used)
So no offense, but I do think that my calculator is better than TI's. They are easier to use, though.

Once again, congrats. I've done just about all that on my TI. I could list other things as well.

I just can't leave this alone.

It is nowhere near nigh-impossible to do anything on your calculator! Anything, absolutely anything, your calculator does, I assure you people can do just as well on paper. Who do you think programmed the calculator to do what it does? Do you think people just put some electronics together and hoped the calculator would do something that we didn't know how to do? Yeah...maybe the calculator can also tell us how to travel back in time.

I agree with the above statment. boct1584 sounds lazy. I agree laziness is good, but only in small dosses. Also, have any of you looked higher up in this topic, or at the topic name for that matter?
