We don't know where they came from. Simple enough.

Newbie rules:

No discussing FS3... it's not gonna happen, and were gonna get over it.

Shivans are very complex, and there is no way of understanding them fully.

But when the lucifer came after us, they were unprovoked... Unless the GTI did something to them.

Hey ns33, most of us who've played the main campaign DO know why Bosch wanted to contact the Shivans; he wanted an alliance with them as opposed to a war with them; it was part of his vision of Neo-Terra.

There won't be FS3 because Interplay owns the rights and the developer, Volition, was bought by THQ last July.

That doesn't nesscesarily mean that there will not be a third installment to the FreeSpace series, what that does mean is that Volition will not be developing any hypothetical sequel.

More than likely, if there will be another FreeSpace game, it's development will begin four years or so from now under a third party developer under contract of Interplay.

I did some test fenris vs the Aeolus
I did some test Levithan vs the Aeolus

OK first of you cant just say Aelos wins over Fenris... its the same like saying Colossus vs Cain... "dooooh"

but anyway
the Levithan got its butt kicked vs Aeolus

you also have to take into account estimated cost size and armament for these encounters

the Fenris has 10000 Hp
the Aeolus has 38000 hp

so Its fair to have 3 Fenris attack 1 Aeolus
3 Fenris costs aprox as much as 1 Aeolus

the outcome was the Aeolos managed to destroy one of the 3 Fenris before it went down...

So FENRIS ROCKS THE HOUSE!!!

Well of course 3 Fenrises are gonna beat an Aeolus because 3 Fenrises have almost triple the weaponry of an Aeolus, DUH! If an Aeolus managed to beat a Leviathan, then I'm impressed. Fenrises were outdated in FS1, that's why the Leviathans replaced them. If you really want to see how powerful an Aeolus is, try three or four of them against a Orion, Typhon, or Demon.

Isnt this about Shivan's. Fenrises werent out of date in FS1.They are fast attack craft and Lev's are for escorting slow craft or guarding a Space station

But think of this...

The destruction of the Capella star may have been a way to get the Terrans and Vasudans of of the system so that once the system cooled down and turned into a stable nebula, they could bring in thousands of Lucifer-Sathanas or whatever name you want to give destroyers without anyone knowing (given that the Capella-Gamma Draconis jump node were unusable).

For the Star Trek thing, they might have been just like Species 8472. They say ther are like alloy composed, but Species 8472 are organic. Why couldnt the shivans be the same? They could've come from organic matter floating in space.

However, that still does not clear the question: "WHERE DID THE SHIVANS COME FROM??"

But it also said that he realized that in order for the human race to survive, humans needed to abandon the Vasudans and live with the Shivans because Shivans are obviously more technologicaly advanced. It never said he wanted to be in an alliance with them. And besides, do you think his staff would want to after the slaughter aboard the Iceni after Bosch was taken away?

Nah, ns33, if the shivans wanted the nebulah, they wouldn't have stopped to let out the terrans and vasudans... they did destroy Vasuda prime... plus, many of you didn't read the former posts, Ace, and Ice say it's a subspace thing, and that's backed up by the campaign...

There is no more speculation as far as im concerned. Virtually everything that I believe to be true based on the facts at hand have been posted in this thread.

I have gone over the FS2 storyline with a fine tooth comb. I have used my skills at literary analysis to go over every symbol and every detail and they give us nothing tangible. I feel like Jason Scott is teasing me the entire game because there are hints at whats to come and yet nothing tangible and nothing I could possibly express in words because there are too many possibilities to whats hinted at. It could mean everything but SUBSPACE is and always has been the key.

Everything but subspace?

*grabs jason Scott*

"Tell me what you know about Shivans!"

*he squirms*

"I don't know anything, honest!"

*Pulls out his trusty HL-7 and blows Scott away*

"Who's next?"

What IceFire is meaning is that sub-space is the key, heart, and core of the FreeSpace Universe.

The Shivans *are* sub-space.

The Shivans may have killed off the Iceni's crew through a misunderstanding - think about it, they might think he doesn't want his crew anyway. On the other hand, Bosch may have actually wanted them killed; he never told most of them what his objective actually was, and I remember him referring to his followers as 'mindless cattle' or something.

Although I don't really agree with the methods he used to get his way (surprisingly, he didn't either), I do think that trying to form an alliance with the Shivans is a very good move... if it can be accomplished.

As for 'where do the Shivans come from?' - I'm sorry to disappoint you, but that's one of the bits no-one can work out. We can only speculate, as there is absolutely no evidence in the game to indicate their origin.

By the way, Ace, it's interesting that you say the Shivans are subspace itself. Sure, they're almost certainly the lords of subspace, but actually -being- subspace is quite unlikely, I'd say.

On the other hand, it might just be a metaphor or exaggeration. The Internet doesn't convey inflections, after all.
