A lot of people have been mentioning tactics against the Sathanas, in the Knossos nebula there was an entire rouse to destroy the Sathanas in such a manner using GTVA destroyers.

The Sathanas did not "buy the bait" and instead proceeded to the Capella node where the Meson device was used to detonate only after allied forces pulled out of the ambush positions.

As we know, the detonation failed, and the attack on the Sathanas to cripple it's main weaponry commenced in the Gamma Draconis system as allied forces fell back to prepare to defend civilian retreats in Capella.

The Colossus then of course was sent to destroy the crippled Sathanas, which it did nicely.

The entire scenario was played almost flawlessly by the GTVA considering the conditions.

I still maintain that the Aeolus owns both the Leviathan and the Fenris (the latter obviously). The Vasudan cruisers just blow, but the Sobek isn't bad.

Of course, the Lilith owns all of the aforementioned ships easily.

the sathana that destroyed the Colossus... wasent it so that the GTA thought they had destroyed the only sathana the shivans had...

if my memory serves me right witch it usually dont do...

the communication was something similar to this....

im getting another sathana signature...

Impossible....

10 seconds later no more colossus


My opinion 30 fenris would have been alot better to invest in than an oversized freighter like the colossus...

The aeolus was meant as anti-fighter ship, not anti-capship. It's cool though.

The Aeolus, although primarily an anti-fighter platform, is still more powerful than Leviathan and obviously Fenris cruisers.

It replaces both in actual fact.

He is right though. the Lilith is a real threat. A fenris or leviathan is too big for it's power, and the Aeolus isn't a serious threat.

I think it waid only two dozen were ever produced, and with good reason

Fenris Hitpoints: 10000 HP 3
Leviathan Hitpoints: 35000 HP 1
Aeolus Hitpoints: 38000 HP 1
Lilith Hitpoints: 75000 HP 1

I did some test fenris vs the Aeolus
I did some test Levithan vs the Aeolus

OK first of you cant just say Aelos wins over Fenris... its the same like saying Colossus vs Cain... "dooooh"

but anyway
the Levithan got its butt kicked vs Aeolus

you also have to take into account estimated cost size and armament for these encounters

the Fenris has 10000 Hp
the Aeolus has 38000 hp

so Its fair to have 3 Fenris attack 1 Aeolus
3 Fenris costs aprox as much as 1 Aeolus

the outcome was the Aeolos managed to destroy one of the 3 Fenris before it went down...

So FENRIS ROCKS THE HOUSE!!!

Raw ship construction resource wise, three Fenrises may be cheaper due to less materials and more basic materials needed.

However the personnel and space required to build them would off-set this.

Then let's add the training costs, having three Fenrises requires three fully trained crews while an Aeolus only requires one.

The reason why the Aeolus project was disbanded was due to lack of GTVA resources, as well as the technologies being used for the Deimos class corvettes made the Aeolus obsolete. (the new construction and space efficientcy techniques were far beyond those in the Aeolus)

We pretty much know for a fact that the Ancients conquered other empires as well as built the technology they had on the ruins of ones before.

These races were destroyed by the Shivans.

Thus there is no Shivan-Ancients connection other than the ancients uncovering Knossos technology as well as sub-space tracking which allows you to discover the N-dimensional corridor that a ship created at the moment of it's jump. (and allows you to coordinate your drives to jump to that corridor)

From what we've been told by the folks at V. the technology the ancients had was more similar to that in the Terran-Vasudan war with some devices and technologies being more advanced. (the ancients did not have shields, beam weapons, flak cannons, and their tactics and design philosiphies were more than likely vastly different from Terran and Vasudan design which co-evolved)

Knossos technology might be based upon findings of an even earlier race, due to what little is left of the ancients we may never know.

No its not serving you. In the background of this engagement are 80 Sathanas juggernaughts. A previous command brief would have told you about the massive subspace field they were generating. The in-mission comms were talking about the Sathanas fleet not responding to the Colossus' deployment.

No one has asked directly "Where did the Shivans come from??? Why did Bosch even attempt to contact them??? What did he want to know????? And why wont there be a Freespace3??????????????" Yes, thoses are questions that the produces wont answer so to keep us on our ****ing toes and ask our asses off... "WHERE DID THE SHIVANS COME FROM?????!!!!!"
