Victory destroyer
I was thinking, If you guys add the Vic to the mod how will you do it's main gun? Will it just be one huge cannon? Or is there a way to have the three beams coming off the wings meet at the nose of the ship?

Hey, with source code...this thing may be possible. But im not sure of the specifics. We don't even have a model yet...but we will.

Ice, I think you can do it without modifying the source, using sexps. I remember someone stating you can have three beams hit an invisble object, the focal point, and when that is hit to produce another beam. I don't do programming but if others can think about what that means, and wheter or not it will work please enlighten us. It was on one of the General forums I think... possibly the one about modifications with the source code thread.... I can't remember at the moment.

think this is what I read

Smart modding could do that, have all the beams fire at an invisible object in front of it, when the beams hit have the invisible object fire another larger beam, along with a primary which fires in on itselfs creating a bubble to hide the "mess".

Krytor: Just to play devil's advocate: the problem with that is that in the show there weas no bubble. Unlike other shows with similar weapons the beams met and just angled off in a single line. What might work is just to set the supply beams to 0 DMG and make them hit the ship right where the main beam fires then set them to cycle, like one of the team was trying to do with the nial, so that whenever you want to fire the big cannon the smaller ones fire first. You could also set the recharge delay to 30 seconds or whatever it was in the shows. I'd do it but I haven't the foggiest idea about how to do this stuff.

no recharge delay you can only fire the beam with an event or it would stink constantly fiering the main beam not even a bit like on the show.

In the show they only ever seemed to fire the main beam when the situation was suitably necessary/desparate and it's not as if the VCD doesn't have a whole host of other weapons Anyway, in EA vs. Minbari battles it requires careful scripting of weapons as simple as the Minbari Sharlin beams just to maintain balance in the mission. To script an individual instance of the VCD beam firing should be no problem. Also, I think that in my opinion having three small, no damage beams hitting the forward section of the ship itself would work best.

The victory looses majority of it's power for 60 seconds I beleive. It can't jump after it fires.... this would make a great mission, have it fire to take out a big drakh ship, then 20 seconds later, 6 HUGE drahk ships come in with fighters.... you have to defend the helpless victory for 40 seconds, or more, who knows...

The problem is not in having beams fire at an inivisible object, but making those beams STOP at the invisible object. As it works right now, you can have a ship shoot at itself, however...the beams will just go right through.
Something will be figured out for sure.
