Primus Battlecruiser
This is really a duel question to both the team and to fans out there:
Will the Primus in the mod be armed solely with ion cannon or with ion cannon and battle lasers?
Also what would people prefer?
I ask this because the Primuses seen in the show only ever fired ion cannon but according to AoG and Warner they were armed with battle lasers as well (two on each wing). Now, of course the Centauri have battle laser technology (the Narn got this technology from the Centauri) but was it mounted on the Primus?
AoG's explanation for this discrepancy is that there are two models of the Primus; one called the Primus with eight ion cannon and four battle lasers; one called the Secundus with eight (heavier?) ion cannon.
I do think that it is a little suspect that all the Primuses seen were variants. However I also think it suspect that if they were armed with battle lasers then they didn't use them. This leaves the only remaining alternative as the Primus only being armed with ion cannon turrets.

I'd say that we stick to what we saw in the show, no lasers, pulse cannons only.

So far we have planned to use only pulse guns on Primus.
Secundus got mass driver and perhaps few beam cannons as well. Octurion is an impressive ship, exact armament is unknown at this time. Octurion is the Warlock of the Centauri, so that should tell something.

So what would you call a Beam Cannon, then?
That's what a laser is... a beam! It's just that it fires for longer than a pulse cannon.

I know that battle laser is a beam.
And it doesn't matter much if the weapon fires pulses as stream so it looks like a beam or true beams.
And you can't know what battle laser looks like, as far as I know, we haven't seen Centauri battle laser. But probably it looks like Narn and EA heavy beams cause they are based on same tech.

BTW where did you get that name. I mean the "Ion cannon". I can't remember anyone ever calling centauri pulse cannons "ion cannons" in the show? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't think it was said in the show, not sure though.
But anyways, general (non-canon) knowledge is that Centauri pulse tech is ion of some kind. Probably that is the reason why they don't use beams much, their pulse weapons are at least as effective.

Ion cannon are mentioned sporadically but to the best of my knowledge never in combat?!? Anyway, ion is really just a synonym for plasma/pulse/matter weaponry and is consistent with the weaponry seen in the show.
The battle lasers have never been seen in the show and were only created in the minds of Warner officials and AoG so there is no way of knowing anything about them really other than AoG material. I've imagined them as violet beams but that's just my imagination
Anyway as I've stated before, I'll be happy, whatever version of Primus the TBP team produce

One from each season:
Season 1: Signs and Portents
Season 2: Fall of Night
Season 3: Severed Dreams
Season 4: The Long Night
Season 5: And All My Dreams Torn Asunder
My opinions, by no means are they everyone's favourites

Personally, I would rather not see the Centauri with using beam technology. I am already used to them using only pulse weapons, besides everybody has beam weapons; the Vorlons, the Shadows, the Minbari, the EA and the Narn. My opinion keep the Centauri with pulse weapons, hey they also said the Nova Dreadnought carries beam weapons and that's not true. Every single cannon on the Nova is exactly the same and they are all dual pulse plasma batteries.
Keep the Centauri (and future versions of the Nova) with just pulse cannons. The Centauri ships should be more than capable by just the rate of fire their weapons shoot, that Vorchan annihalated the G'Quan in ITB in a second firing its dual turret. Although that ship does have the mini driver for small orbital assaults. And as for the Nova if you want you can update it to the Nova-G variant whose only difference, externally anyway, is that the medium pulse cannons were replaced by the Warlock's heavy pulse cannons. That's my opinion.

My oh my....all of you missed the Second Season Episode where ISN is doing the report on Babylon 5. A Narn G'Quan and a Centauri Primus duke it out near the station. Both fire beams at each other.
Battle Laser is sort of a white cream colored sort of beam I belive. The Primus will have Battle Lasers.

Huh? was that some kind of a joke? You are talking about the episode "and now for a word" If that primus fired some kind of beams I must be stupid or completely blind.
Here's a vid from the battle, if you have a good conn you should download it and see for yourselves.

Sorry to contradict you there IceFire. But I just checked two episodes where the Primus is in battle, "And now for a word" where the ISN crew visits B5 and the episode you referred to and "The Fall of Night" where Mr. Welles arrives with the Nightwatch proposal and B5 destroys a Primus to save the G'Tok. In both episodes the Primus only fired large red bolts of plasma, the only ship to use beams was the Narn Cruiser in "Now for a word" because the G'Tok didn't fire in "The Fall of Night". I swear there were no beams from the Primus in either episode, only red bolts; two from the top and two from below.

I watched that clip and I might be missing something but I don't think that I saw any Centauri beams. Are that battle and 'Fall of Night' the only two episodes where a Primus uses it's main weapons (mass drivers aside)? If they are, I can check those episodes out when I get back home.
BTW, any tips for someone doing a Babylothon? My mate and I are planning to watch all 110 episodes and five feature length films (84 hours total) in under a week. Neither of us currently has Crusade

Thats the episode alright. Both the Narn Heavy Cruiser and the Centauri Primus get wasted.
I was pretty sure that the Primus fired a beam. I'll watch the mov file (assuming thats where its from) and I guess I'll find out.
I remember a beam, but if your right, then I admit to being wrong

It does appear that I was wrong.
In any case, the Primus will have Battle Lasers but its main guns will be able to do the trick nicely too.
