A bit off topic, but still fun

I hope you don't mind this one little distraction, but I was curious to see what was out there as for mods to Starfleet Command, and I found some models at least, and a utility to edit the ships and stuff, so I had a little fun. Here is something I did that I thought would cheer some people up.

Unfortunately it was limited to just new models and still had to use the old weapons, but I altered things a little, such as removing shields and buffing up the armor. Here are where the things came from.

Galaxy Class model: http://www.staryards.com/Downloads/Ships/Federation/3_TNG/Galaxy/Galaxy.htm (by Pneumonic81)

VCD model: http://www.darkdrone.perooz.com/IVANKO/Shipyards/Shipyards.htm (not really sure who made it)

If anyone else has had some fun with crossover battles in other mods, let's see the pictures?

It's not a fleet, but was almost a good capture. It's too bad they don't have a way to add new weapons to SFCII. The Warlock is firing the killing shots on that Constitution if you can't tell.

Hrrmm...first game I ever played was Dig Dug on a C64

Those were the days. The first game I played for hours on end, unceasingly, was Aces of the Pacific followed by Aces over Europe. Oh my god, those were so cool at the time

Heh. Commadore 64? That kind of talk makes me miss my COLECO Vision. Ahh... the days where it was gameplay and not all visuals.

What are everyone's Favorite B5 mods for other games? been thinking about getting some... what do you all think?

Trying to figure out how to alter the ships with Shipedit for SFCII is tough. I generally take off all the shields (obviously) and bulk up the armor by a LOT (probably too much, as the ships can last for a long time). I am quite liberal with the power I assign to the ships, so they don't end up needing as much energy strategy as with the regular in-game ships. And putting the right weapons is even more fun. To a Shadow Battlecrab I gave 36 PPDs (a heavy beam-ish type weapon used by the ISC in regular SFCII). That along with more power and armor than all the other younger ships can make it quite powerful, but then there's all that weapon recharge time with SFCII. Even if you have all the energy you need, you still need to wait forever for your weapons to recycle. With my versions of the ship loadouts, 2 Sharlins seem to beat a Battlecrab, though come out pretty slashed up. 6 Whitestars murder 1 Battlecrab, but are in turn annihilated by 2 crabs. Oh well, it's just fun to watch the battles, though I wish the fighter models I dled would actually work. For some reason, if I assign the fighter model of an ingame ship to one of the B5 models, the same way that is done for the capships, it crashes in-game. Guess they're too complex or something.

First game I ever played was Spy Hunter on my Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Christmas 1985 - SIGH

And not the rubber key one either, I had the posh plastic jigsaw keyed Speccy Plus - SNIFF!

Thinking about it, I still have my Plus 2 in a box somewhere... wonder if it still works.........

*drifts off into a cloud of memories*

heh, my COLECO Vision had an expansion slot on it so you could add a Keyboard and 100 kb hard drive, thus making it a "hightech" computer.... ahhh, the 80's

(I miss my Smurf's game... Jumping over fences with repetitive annoying music....and Donkey Kong, and War Games...)

I could plug two interfaces into my Speccy called Interface One and - you guessed it - Interface Two! You could get games on microdrives, Horace Goes Skiing never loaded faster!

Funny, that's exactly what trek fans said about the first couple seasons of B5.
"It's all acting! Where are the ships?"

Whee!

Trouble with Enterprise is that at that point, Starfleet doesn't even HAVE enough ships to engage in any fleet warfare. Though I thought I read somewhere in the past that Starfleet got into a war with the Romulans somewhere around the period Enterprise is supposed to be taking place in. Oh well, then again Enterprise does seem to be taking the Trek canon and throwing it in a shredder. I don't hate Trek, I just like blowing up the ships . I know that technically Trek ships ought to be able to beat stuff from most other sci-fi shows, but that's only because the ships 'just happen' to always have the right technology for the occasion. Blah.
