Freespace 1 & 2 Movies

Hi,

I just bought FS1+2, the gameplay is really great....and i wonder if there is no german community ;-)

But I have a problem with the movies in FS1+2. They are a bit choppy. In both games the same way....the video runs ok for about 5 secs but then it stands still for a short time.
My FS2 is updated to 1.2, FS1 is 1.2 too, but i always get an error message when i want to update to 1.6

please help.....

btw: Is there any good FS-NewsSite where I could consequently look for news ?

Is Volition still making patchs that I don't know of?

Most of the FreeSpace community is either from the US or from Scandinavia so...
but good site you can try is FreeSpace Watch

I´m from Germany and a great fan of the FreeSpace world :-) Hello dude!

What system are you using? Sometimes older games have troubles with newer systems. That´s why I keep Win98 on a second harddrive for compatibility issues. FS runs fine on it.

I remember having bad troubles with the Wing Commander 5 movies. They run too fast, so I have to brake my PC down to 200 MHz... silly thing...

hm... Fs1 goes to version 1.6 but the auto update is gone, so you can find the manual one on HLP...

you can select the interlaced cutscenes option to lower the detail, so it should work better...

HLP (above) is the place for news, complete with huge number of forums, and downloads...

sectorgame.com is also a good place for all this, bt the forums are ofline for the moment...

ok, forgot to post my sys specs.
Here they are :

P3-933 / 256 SDRAM
GeForce4Ti4200
Aureal Vortex 2 Soundcard
WinME

....
the interlaced cutscenes option solved the video problem but so I can't watch the movies in full quality
and in FS1 there is no such option

and unfortunately, I can't help you. I sure wish I'd ever had any problems running freespace or freespace2, so I'd know what to do to fix it, and thus be able to tell people about it.

how is your virtual memory set up?

I doubt its because WinME, I didn't have even single problem on FS2 when I used WinME.
