I thought it was 3 omegas to one sharlin. And i dont think that any reasonable amount of novas stand a chance against that ship.

Depends on the orientation of forces.
Are the Omega's able to flank the Sharlin limiting the number of heavy beams it can bring to bear?
Or is the Sharlin attacking the Omegas from the side-where the Omegas lack cap-ship weaponry?
Also, what AI classes are we talking here?

Are you talking 'in universe' or 'in game'?

The Nova lacks firepower in the sides?
And what are those hughe turrets on top and bottom of the ship for?
The Nova has most of its firepower on the sides. Like oly battleships (sailing ships) they give strong broadside fire. The Nova lacks little ani-fighter turrets and own fighters. Thats why the Omega is the main ship of EA. But in pure raw firepower the Nova is most probably better than the Omega.
And it takes only one Olympus to destroy a Sharlin. If they are able to open a jumppoint in the Minbari ship, or lure them into a minefield.

Okay....
The olympus is the weakest ship in the EA navy. Most of them were destroyed during the Earth-Minbari War and were no match for any Minbari ship. ANY ship can open a jump point as a weapon, although im not sure if its possible to do it whenever they mean to or not.

On EA-Minbari war jump point manouver didn't work very well. At that time EA jump engines weren't that accuarate to hit enemy ship, if that happened it was because it was coincident or perfect and succeed plan.

I said the Omega didn't have firepower on the sides. Well, it does, but the heavy stuff is fore and aft. The emplacements can probably swivel to some extent, but still that's just one turret.
The Omega's beams and newer pulse cannons give it slightly better firepower than the Nova in my opinion. Further, the Omega has better reactors and engines, so it can put fire on a taget more effectively.
In combat manuvering is life.

If a Sharlin was alone, I'd say a couple of Nova's would be all it would ever take to totally wipe the Sharlin out. Its not so much that the Sharlin is a very impressive warship as it is that the Minbari were/are excellent tacticians and use their ships, technology, and tenacity in equal amounts.

I made a mission with a lone sharlin and had LOTS of ships attack it. First i had four midwinters with their beams attack...they were no match. Then i had a nova, an omega, and an omega-x attack and the omega-x was the only surviving ship after the Sharlin finally died, but remember it was already damaged from the midwinter attack. The AI was the normal, FRED-set AI and there were no weapons modifications. All the ships came at each other head-on.

in game and in the "universe" the sharlin seems to have an enourmous firepower advantage over any EA ship. Just for fun i put a sharlin up against a raider fleet (4 freighters, 4 carriers, a battlewagon, and a wing of fighters) the sharlin had them wiped out in no less than 3 minutes, it was quite funny to see.

I know of course, that an Olympus isn't anywhere near a match for a Sharlin. But in the "universe" you can't say you need exactly this or that number of EA ships to destroy a minbari cruiser.
Sheridan managed to destroy 3 minbariships with only a little fleet. And from all we know 3 sharlins could be enaugh to annihilate a quite big fleet of Novas, Hyperions and Olympus.
I know in ITB there was only the Blackstar but in the show, Sheridan tells Ivannova that he destroyed the BS and 2 other ships (and there was, as far as I remember, nothing said about a faced distresscall).

Yes, but with tactical nukes. It really didn't have anything to do on ships.

ship to ship combat and using nukes are quite a different thing, i suppose Ea ships could take out a sharlin with the element of surpirse and a whole lot of weapons fire. but in a dircet ship vs ship engagement the minbari have the advantage pretty much every time, but number of ships on either side could also make a difference (say if EA outnumbered them 3:1)
