Whee! the G.O.D. defence platforms...

the G.O.D.'s seem to have amazing range with their missles i made 4 vorchans try and destroy 2 G.O.D.'s and they never landed a snigle hit agaisnt either one. im not complaining or anything i think the G.O.D.s look great, if only ships could get close enough for them to use their beams, maybe a sharlin could lol

True, they are. I suppose in B5 they'd be used to oversaturate the interceptors of the attacking fleet and then pound them into scrap metal. I'm just waiting for the day when I fire up TBPOpen and a GOD sat goes off on a ship, only to have half the salvo blasted by interceptors, pretty explosions all over the place, and the other half land home, making a much larger pretty explosion

I love the G.O.D. sat, although most of the TBP community has probably gathered that much by now. I had more fun modelling and play testing it than I did with any other ship. For me the sight of a G.O.D. sat launching salvo after salvo of missiles is one of the tech "money shots" of the Babylon 5 series. Out of interest, IceFire's original Nemesis missiles were significantly less potent. After a considerable amount of nagging I convinced/bullied him to upgrade them to what they are now, which I believe is in keeping with what we saw in season 4. The updated .pof which will come in the patch also has some rather nice debris.

Only problem I have is that the GODs are hopeless against fighters. THe missiles are too slow, fighters can easily evade them, and the 3 pluse cannons are as effective as those on the Olympus. Also, the beam weapon doesn't appear to have a particlarly wide arc of fire, strange given it's location at the tip of that proboscis. But other than that they are fun.

Try flying against 50!!!

GOD satellites are there to disrupt an enemy advance rather than take it out entirely. The missiles do a great job of that for fighters and smaller capital ships and the heavy particle cannons do the job against larger ships (up to and including Sharlins).

My impression is that the GOD sats were intended to provide a long range punch to disrupt and scatter an incoming fleet enabling manned EarthForce units to close and finish off/drive away the enemy.

The satellites are not meant to be the sole line of defense. In Endgame, with the neutralizing of the EA fleet at Mars, the sats were left as the only line. In ACTA the sats simply could not knock down all the Drakh forces and EA and ISA units were elsewhere on the battlefield engaging the planet killer. So, we haven't seen the GOD sats preforming in a Battle of the Line style engagement for which they were designed.

In endgame they didn't use their particle beams against the destroyers as they were being turned around to fire on earth and had to rely on just missles and anti fighter weaponary God sats are really last line defensive weaponary and need to be backed up with a mobile defense force aswell.

lol i put 2 G.o.d.'s against 6 vrochans, it was cool, salvo after salvo of missles, of course the vorchans were all destroyed, but they managed to bring one g.o.d. down to 84% lol
