I've just got a new PC, pretty good (2.8gig, 512 Ram, and a 128mb GeForce. Oh, and XP. Will FreeSpace 2 run fine on it? I has trouble loading FS1 on my last PC (1.8gig, 256 ram, and 64mb GeForce)

A few people have had problems getting it to run on XP but is most definately possible.

The GeForce card similarly can cause problems but if you look on the technical section of my FAQ there are solutions to that.

As for FS1 what was your problem with it?

FS1 wouldn't load. I downloaded an XP patch, but there was bad interference in the game, like a powerful magnet was being run across the ray tube.
thanks for advice on FS2. Will look into it now that I know it can be done. I was gutted at the thought of losing it!

FS1 runs pretty well under XP on my new system (2400+, 256Mb, 128Mb Radeon). I did notice some wierdness that I think is related to the new Catalyst 3.5 drivers but I won't know for sure until I reformat and install them on their own (I upgraded straight from Cat 3.4 which may also be causing the problem) but I'm putting off reformatting until nVidia pull their fingers out of their asses and release the new set of nForce drivers.

Fs1 and fs2 run fine on my system (1.8Ghz, 1gig RAM, 128mb Radeon 9000 pro and XP home).
