I'm assuming GT-Keravnos means the link to Home of the Underdogs on DG's site.

If that's the case you might as well go to the HotU page of my FAQ cause that will not only tell you where to download the basic files for FS2 but also how to get the rest of the files to bring it up to a full install.

Well, the reason why I didn't come out and say,

hey it is on the underdogs site, go get it,

is well, because the admins here are pretty sensitive about it (which I understand, by the way).

Other than that, it is also a good excuse to check out SAAB and give diamondgeezer a good cheer because it takes a lot of guts to go solo with a conversion (not to mention time).

Actually for some strange reason Underdogs seems to be okay to mention here. Anything else gets you into trouble

I guess it is cause Underdogs is one single easily policed site. If Interplay had a problem with it they could get it taken down instantly and it would not be a problem again.

Warez sites on the other hand tend disappear and spring back up again later. They also tend to have copies of new games too (which the people who donate the webspace for HLP or VWBB tend to make money from) so the admins don't want to be seen to be promoting piracy of new games. Everything on Underdogs on the other hand is fairly old.

Underdogs is one of those grey areas. I've actually been there to pick up some classics. I actually own them too but the disks are done for after 10+ years.

In any case...yeah, Underdogs is cool in my book. They do tend to respond well to being told to remove programs from their site.

you can get TBP-Base from http://www.sf.net/projects/alliance - it'll provide you will all the freespace 2 files used in TBP - so TBP-Base + TBP will give you a running game

Got it --- But now??

Hi,

thx for your welcome.

and thx for all your help. I got the files from underdogs site. It was quite easy to install it also. (to c:\games\fs2\ )It worked perfectly and I also could play FS2 ..

The next step for me was to get the TBP files. So I downloaded the Release2 complett.

That was also easy :-). I extracted the files. (c:\games\tbp\)

But now?? Is there somewhere an Installation Guide? So that I can figure out where to copy the extracted files? How to isnstall the patch for FS2 1.2 (was also impossible to run) Means I got a corrupted fiel (which could be true it´s only a not so really a liscend copy I got).. Do I need that patch?

Please help me again...

Yours GreenPanther

You don't need that patch....and basically the VP files go into the main directory. I think thats all you need to do (but I haven't done the TBP installation for some time now so I don't remember).

I challenge you to find such classics as Aces Over Europe and Aces of the Pacific in such bargin bins.

I got those two games... too bad they don't run under WinME. I plan to "rescue" my mom's old 486 from its certain eventual home in either a landfill or donation to some kid I hardly know, so I can play those old games and giggle to myself like I did when a 486 was a 2nd rate PC.

Later!

Hi

thanks to all your help. It worked. Now I can fly within the B5 universe.

One day I´ll figure out, how I can finish the first trainings mission. But at least it works.

Umm...what training mission? I suggest you use the Campaign screen (or the tech room simulator for single missions) to switch campaigns because any training is going to be part of the FS2 campaign...which won't work because of the massive changes we've made.
