Is this possible with FRED?

I would like to build a mission, in which an enemy ship can ONLY be destroyed by another specified ship. (like: "Thank god, THIS Omega came and saved us..." or "THIS Vorchan destroyed our Asimov!" )
I tried hard, but I could not really find a way to be sure that only one ship can do it.
Anyone out there who has an idea?

If at first you don't succeed, cheat!

1) Set the ship to invulnerable or ship-guardian depending on the effect you're trying to achieve (If you don't know the difference have a look at the FRED section of my FAQ).

2) Have the killer ship come in with its beams locked.

3) Use the fire-beam SEXP to fire at the enemy ship.

4) Self-destruct the offending ship.

You'll need to play about with when you make the ship invulnerable/ship-guardianed to suit your mission.

You could also try (perhaps in combination with what karajorma suggested) doing a protect-ship or beam-protect-ship and then over riding it with a fire-beam sexp or specific attack order.

I don't actually know if that'll work so if you find out tell me

Good idea. Protect-ship will work better if you don't care about the player attacking the ship.
