What difficulty to you usually play TBP on?

Medium, Easy, Insane, etc. I'd like to know for difficulty/balancing purposes.

And poll feature is disabled when you'd need it...
Oh well. Medium difficulty. Hard difficulty sometimes.

Medium or hard... Sometimes insane
It depends. Some missions are impossible on insane

I always played FS2 on insane, but Prophet is right - some missions seem impossible on insane.
TBP by its very nature is less forgiving than FS2.. though that makes it more rewarding.

I can see IceFire coming this way shouting "Anything over Easy is Hard says [V]!"

FS2 is so old that we have totally mastered the game.

I play tbp very rarely, mostly only to test ships, as I don't have the time for it. Because of that my flying skills have gone completely down the drain, so I play it always on easy.

Easy-medium is my choice... An old computer makes it totally impossible to even try anything more (you all know how pleasant it is to do anything that demands accuracy @<15 FPS).

And can you believe: the local secondhand wants EIGHTY euros for an old, SECC-packed PII 333MHz! (My mobo doesn't support anything more than that.) So I'd guess any changes won't take place in the near future. I'll move to very easy as poly count increases by time; there's no other option .

Mainly on Medium and Hard, occasionaly on Insane, its certainly gives good feeling to be desperate on heavy fire fight.

I play with my own custom ai.tbl where the ships have the evasivenous and aggressiveness of insane difficulty, but the accuracy of medium difficulty

I find that's about the right balance for tbp

Hard if playing the mission/campaign for the first time (I like a little challenge) but medium if I just want a bit of a laugh and don't want to die too often

I personally prefer Very Easy-Easy.

I have heard people saying that they have finished the main game on INSANE.

Whoever says that is a liar, since when i try INSANE difficulty, the Enemy Fighters all attack me and each shot takes 50-60% of shields and since the afterburners drain fast and recharge VERY slowly, i just find it really crap at those high difficulties.

I think they should have made it like this:

Easy: same as Very Easy and Easy, the player has the advantage.

Normal: The Player and AI have no advantages over each other.

Hard: The AI has an extreme advantage over the player.

That is how it should have been like.

Insane is meant for people who want a challenge, its designed to help make up for the lack of "artificial inteligence" in the "AI"s.

I'd balance on medium where most players have a good chance of completing the mission, that way the Very Easy people can still beat the thing while the Insane people still get to spend a good dozen hours improving performance.

Little word to the wise - you only get better if you face off a challenge.

I`ve heard this arguement from you so many times and it's just getting boring.

1) You're a crap pilot. Live with it.

2) Real Life doesn`t have difficulty settings. In other words quit bitching about the difference between Insane and Very Easy. If you play on Insane that is what the universe of FS2 is like. You can`t reference another difficulty level and say "This doesn`t happen on Easy!" It makes as much sense as a Babylon 5 pilot complaining that Star Trek ships get to have shields while he doesn`t. You have to approach each difficulty level as if it is a new universe because in essence it is.

3) Quit saying that anyone who has completed it on Insane is a liar. Go onto multiplayer and say that. Then challenge someone who plays a lot to a duel. Once you`ve been killed 5 times in 2 minutes you might start to believe there are people out there better than you. Oh, don`t start saying you lost cause the other guy cheated. If you can`t figure out why you lost see point 1 again.

erm, did i say i was good? no i didn't!

besdies i tried playing online, but the lag f**king sucks, i never get any ping lower then 700ms, which is c**p.

So, even if it is on Very Easy, i never EVER score a hit, unless they stand still since i am nearly 1sec out of sync. lol
