Choppy cutscenes
First of all, apologies for posting this. I know this isn't a tech support forum but I'm desperate and there aren't too many FS2 forums about anymore.
I just bought FS2 (I know, I'm kind of late) and am encountering an infuriating problem. All of the game's cutscenes (including the intro) run very slowly and choppily, I can see that they look great but it's impossible to enjoy them when the movie and sound are constantly jumping and breaking up.
I know my PC is more than adequate to run the game, perhaps it's an issue with windows XP? If anyone can shed any light on this or direct me somewhere were I may find a solution I would be extremely grateful.
-Toby

Hmm... make sure you've patched, of course. Then try a few of the cutscene options in the launcher that might improve performance.

patching will make no difference as to the "choppiness" of the cutscenesf i don't think, since the cutscenes run (should) smooth before you patch.
check your "video" options in the setup (the menu before the game starts)... make sure it's all correct in there, then tell me exactly what programs/operations XP is running when you're running the game (CTRL+ALT+DEL), also what are your comp specs.

XP is running ZoneAlarm in the background.
The following processes are running:
several instances of svchost
nvsvc32
dkservice
iexplore
taskmgr
spoolsv
lsass
services
winlogon
crss
smss
cthelper
realsched
explorer
FS2
rundll32
devldr32
The game accesses the CD constantly as the cutscenes are playing and this seems to be what's slowing it down. My CD drive is 40x. Interestingly, if I play a part of a cutscene then play it again straight after then the part I've already watched runs smoothly.

I just found an application that can make .mve files into self-playing .exe files. I ran the intro.mve from my hard disk and it was fine.
The problem seems to be playing the files from the CD. Is there a way that I can copy the movies to my HD and tell FS2 to play them from there instead of the CD?

Probably; move them to the FS2 data/movies directory (you'll have to create it) and it should find them.

EDIT: Thanks to Galactit_Emperor's insight, i now know that this application you refer to is illegal, so we won't discuss it here
