well if you own the FS2 you can use the tools for Freespace 2. cough, VP view, cough cough.

You need Descent Manager FreeSpace Kit to open vp files. In vp files you can find more than just the original tables.

Scroll down and download the FreeSpace Kit. You probably need DLLPAK32 and Tahoma font too, these are listed in the beginning of the site.
