I cant get freespace 2 to see my joystick. I'm using Windows XP and have a logitech wingman extreme digital 3d. In the joystick selection tab, the only option that shows up for joystick is [none]. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming XP is enough like 98 for this to work: Go to your control panel and choose gaming options. Check that your joystick is present. I have had a joystick with installed drivers not appear there until I specifically added it.

It shows up as device status OK and the calibration detects all button presses. Windows itself doesnt seem to have a problem with the joystick

I had the EXACT same problem. It happened in the Windows 98 and repeated in XP.

The funny part is that, every time I had to re-install windows, I had to cross my fingers, because it was random if the joystick would work or not.

Anyway, my solution was radical. I dumped my generic Joystick and bought a Genius G09D. This one works pretty fine, and never gave me any trouble. I suppose that because it install it's own control software instead of relying on windows.

However, it seens that you already use a non-generic joystick. Do you simply set in in the joystick panel, or do you have to install drivers to make it work?

The solution may lie in that... altough i'm afraid it'll cost you.

This joystick works with both the generic windows drivers, and has its own control software as well. I've tried both but I'm still having this problem

I'm grasping at straws here but is the joystick plugged into a USB port or a USB version 2 port. It occurs to me that the game might be too old to work with version 2. Although I would have though Windows would provide an abstraction layer.

I assume you have the latest drivers from Logitech installed?

Do other games fail to see your joystick?
