More Weapon Woes.
I've been playing around with beams lately, but theres one TBL entry I don't understand:
"Zadd"
What does it do? I'd experiment to find out, but my computer blew itself up and is currently halfway across the country being repaired.

Ooh, I asked about this a while ago on HLP. Let me see if I can find it...
Found it. "It's exactly what it sounds like-- "Z Add". It adds a depth displacement to layers of the beam to help FS2 knows which layers are supposed to be rendered in front of each other."

Actually, I thought he explained it just fine. Basically what I think GalacticEmperor was saying is the Zadd specifies the distance that the section appears in front of the previous one.
Example: If I understand correctly it works like this: Section 2 has a Zadd value of 1. This means it will appear 1 meter further forward than the point that section 1 appears.
A slightly different question now. Does anyone know where I can download the complete GTB Surt package (with railgun). So far, I've never found a .pof for the surt, and I might have lost all my mods.

Gives the beams a fake roundness, basically. 3-D effect.
'Z' is the dimension in/out of the screen, if that helps.

SSSooooo...in english it means that if you have Beam1.pcx through Beam3.pcx and Beam1.pcx has a size of 40 and Beam3.pcx has a size of 15 you definately want the Beam3.pcx to be further forward so Beam3.pcx should have a Zadd of something higher than Beam1.pcx.
Ok...so that wasn't so clear.
Beam1.pcx
Width: 40
Zadd: 1
Beam2.pcx
Width: 25
Zadd: 2
Beam3.pcx
Width: 15
Zadd: 3
So Beam 3 will appear ontop of 2 and 1. This is just a layering effect...like Shrike said, to give it an element of being 3D.

yes but Zadd is suposed to only go from 0.0 to 1.0, though nothing bad would happen, but if you when to 8 or so you'd probly start getting errors

Really? 0.0 to 1.0? I thought a whole bunch of V tables had values well over that.....I must check that.

A slightly different question now. Does anyone know where I can download the complete GTB Surt package (with railgun). So far, I've never found a .pof for the surt, and I might have lost all my mods.
The Surt was in my modeldump (2) file. Don't know the location offhand, though.

Is that the compete file or just the Surt itself?
BTW, I love that pirate fighter you just released!
