There used to be a mod that would up the limit. Search some RF sites and you should be able to find it.

You do it through a mod

You need to edit the game.tbl

Down the bottom of the table is this...

// Uncommenting this is not recommended.
// +No Geomod Limit

remove the // from +No Geomod Limit

and that will make the limit double what it is now, the limit now is 64 it will boost to 128
