This reeks!

Now, this just infuriates me. I play through FS1 a couple of times, then decide to go dig up FS2: GOTY Edition. Now, I open up the casing... and Disk 3 is nowhere to be found! Then, I go to my neighborhood EB, to find that they haven't had a copy in a while! And so, here I am, forced to play FS1 and Silent Threat over and over again. Man, I wish there was a way I could download the files off of someone. OK, end of rant!

I`m not certain but if you do a limited install does it even ask for disk 3?

FS2 is freely distributable to friends so if you pursude someone to send you a copy you might get disk 3 that way.

I`m not certain but if you do a limited install does it even ask for disk 3?

FS2 is freely distributable to friends so if you pursude someone to send you a copy you might get disk 3 that way.

Still, wouldn't you need disk 3 to play through the later acts, or is it just for the expansion missions?

You need 3rd CD for later mission, even with full install...

Well, find your best friend on this board with a broadband connection, and ask him to send you an image of Disc 3. Burn it to CD, et voila. Perfectly legal.

Unless you spend 3 minutes removing the cutscenes from the campaign file and rename some one frame ani's to replace the ones on disk 3.

Suddenly you don`t need disk 3 any more Not as good as getting hold of a copy of disk 3 but it's better than not being able to play the game

Well, I just found out that even without disk 3, I'm still able to play the game, just to the end of Act 1. Oh, well. That's better than nothing. But, finally! Beam cannons, flak, and nebulae, oh my!

I think he means taking some of the Act I Command Briefing animations and renaming them with the filenames for those of the Act II and III CBs. Right, karajorma?

Basically. Although it might be an idea to find a smaller 1 frame ani and use that instead (so as to save diskspace).

The [URL=http://freespace.volitionwatch.com/fs2/refguide/fs2refguide.chm]Freespace 2 Reference Guide[/URL] has a listing of all the command briefings by name so all you have to do is put an ani file with each of those names in the \FreeSpace2\Data\cbanims dir, edit the campaign file and you can now play act 2 and 3.
