Submit application for managing source code project
OK, peoples, I've elected myself to organize the management elections for the FS2 source code project. To be fair, we'll have to wait until HLP goes back online so that that community can get a word in edgewise, but we'll get things rolling over here in the meantime. So here's how it goes:
If you are able and willing to act as manager for coordinating the editing of the source code, post here according to the template below.
The requirements are: You should have a basic understanding of programming principles to facilitate easy communication between programmers and the community. Include names of past projects headed up (if any) or other significant positions you have had.
Once the applications are in, I'll post a poll (on HLP, since VWBB doesn't allow polls) with the names of the applicants. You all vote, and the top applicant will be elected.
If you have any problems or comments on this system, do not post here. Make a new topic and complain there, but keep this thread clean.
Don't praise yourself, don't deride others.
K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple, Stupid! Don't ramble in your reply, just post according to the following template:
code:
Name/callsign: John Smith
Projects: The Babylon Project - Project Lead
Warzone - Mission Designer
Awakenings: Mission Designer, Voice Acting Coordinator

Hmm dead.
Sorry for this note, But I would send an application, if it where not for the fact that I live in GMT+1 and most of you live in the USA, and my time is limited.
So communication would be slow. As I mostly sleep at night.
So you programmers with skills, and time, start sending in your applications by posting here in the form described above.
This is a good call.
If you have good programming understanding, and not the very least (are able to talk to all kinds of people), dont be afraid to apply for this manager position. You may actually discover something useful about managing, and about yourself.
Again, sorry for this side trip. But I saw that no-body had applied and it is intended as an encouragement for does that might be scared of managing, but being fully able to program.
So do it now, if you are qualified.

I can't post a poll.....
But anyhow, I think most of the HLP admins are over here. I suppose we'll have to take on this project as hosted, unless VW wants to.....

I believe we've already started contacting people about setting up a site.
We have to really fight to get new logins sometimes which is why you guys at HLP get alot of hosted requests and thus hosted sites. We usually forward them over to you guys
This one we'd like to take on. We've got the resources and ability to set whatever is needed up.

I think that Kazan is the most experenced programmer (Just look at his wonderfull tools), and therefore he should be the project manager.
Unless we get one of the programmers from the Volition team I realy beleve that Kazan is the best bet.

I'd say Styxx would be a better candidate, but he's got way to much to do, at work and on a couple projects, so he's way out. So forget I said anything.
Something that occured to me (and I'm throwing it up purely for discussion) is that if you guys host this, you'll have the two highest-profile projects in the FS community - the B5P has a lot of external following, and source code editing is obvious. Anyhow, just something that occured to me as I was reading some posts.
