Corvettes and The T-V War
The T-V War Project has an argument brewing over the existance of the Corvette during the Terran Vasudan War. What do you think?

Forefit the game before some somebody takes you outta the frame...
In my opinion, it seems unlikely there would have been a "dedicated" corvette-class vessel, for either side, during the war. We didn't see any such ship in FreeSpace 1. I know that this ignores the possibility of the existence of a corvette in the preceding 14 years of the war, but it seemed like both fleets were relatively, shall we say, "primitive". They made and used only the ships they needed to and didn't leave a lot of room for finesse among capships. Cruisers provided light firepower in engagements and supported fighters and destroyers, while destroyers simply pounded on any capship in their reach. Neither the GTA nor PVN had fully recognized the importance of a sleek, fast, and lethal warship at the time I think.
On the other hand, there's nothing saying that there wasn't a corvette either. It'd seem a little strange among all these really big, slow ships and weak, slightly faster but still slow ships, but still believable if you do it right. I also don't know what kind of new weapons, fighters, ships, and tech you're writing into your 14 year war story, so there could very possibly be room or even the necessity for a corvette.
