The GTVA's Government

The GTVA's government

The three main autorities of the Galactic Terran Vasudan Alliance are:
- The Security Council.
- The General Assembly.
- The Vasudan Imperium. (100% vasudan, i think)

Do the systems have its own government? I think they do not.
There is some posibility that a Neo Terran admirer get into the GTVA's government? I think yes.

Though the game doesnt specify (or if it does i missed it completely), I'm pretty sure every system has its own local government, it would only make sense as the GTVA Security Council and General Assembly would have a great time managing every last aspect of some 30 odd systems.

Probably devolved per-system government... systems can determine thier taxes & expenditure within set limits, miltary and police control (overall) is done by the central body.....

probably, the systems are semi independent - they should have their own gouvernment because they must react quickly and have some control over the system - central gouvernment alone couldn`t be effective.

They would have the equivalent of a federal, provinicial, and local government.

So the Security Council is basically the central leadership. The General Assembly on the Terran side functions as a parliament and then you have your individual system governments under that. The system governments would function as states/provinces. Then you'd have the more local cities, colonies, etc.

Wouldn't make sense that the Security council delt with military things, the General Assembly runs the basics of the GTVA (UN equivalent) and the Vasudans have their Imperium, which is sort of akin to the Queen of England, but with more power.

Yeah...pretty much that idea.

The Imperium is probably a little more powerful with Vasudans than the General Assembly is with Terrans.

i always figured that regional governors had control of a sector, then someone beneath them had control of the system, and then someone at planetary level. basically a feudal setup with people being kind of like Duke's, counts, and barons.

I figured that would be a given, that's why we are using that system in the Combat Federation Mod (shameless plug i know, but who cares)

But there's no definable sectors really. Only star systems. Whats to make Beta Aquilae more a part of a sector with Antares as it is a sector with Delta Serpentis. Plus, each systems totally different node structure pretty much makes having a regional governor a useless sort of idea. Of course, some nations in the world are sort of arbitrary like that...but usually you still have a more definable geographical reason for it....and we're talking a fraction of the people and resources.

If you have a regional governor at all, he'd be in charge of a star system (ie. all the colonies, asteroids, installations, and small pebles).

ok let me explain this in more detail.......i wasn't looking at geographic locations on the map, hell the two problems with that are readily apperant,

number 1) The map is two dimensional, and we have no x y z coordinates to base the z location of a star in freespace.....although these are most assuredly mapped in respect to galactic center in real life.

number 2) The Jump nodes lead different places.....half the time you can't go directly to a neighboring star. But we all know this. So how do we set up sectors?

We use travel routes to define them. This star is linked to this this and this directly. So we call it a sector, or region, or whatever. This is a bit cumbersome, but it works.

My assumption has been that groups such as the Luyten Free Alliance mentioned as "post-great war power blocs" are the national governments represented in the General Assembly. These nations then break down into the system governments mentioned.

The Security Council is overall the unified police/military force of the Terrans and Vasudans as well as the military courts therein.

The GTVA is quite different then the GTA was, the GTA was a unified humanity with system governments, the GTVA is a coalition of different Terran factions with one unified Vasudan government also involved.

Eighteen months ago, Admiral Aken Bosch, commander of the GTVA 6th Fleet, launched a violent military coup in the Polaris system. Within weeks, a regional domino effect also toppled the governments of Regulus and Sirius, all swearing allegiance to Bosch and his Neo-Terran Front.
[/i]

(based on hit,s methinks

Each system is effectively a devolved entity, governed by an elected body in Terran systems or an appointed council of governor/s - by Emp. Khonsu - in vasudan systems. 'Shared' systems probably have a combination of the 2, with a sort of parlimentary system. Possibly those councils - in the larger, more populated systems - also have regional governing bodies under them.... in fact, you could have a system in teh densely populated systems whereby there are local councils (equiv. to US states) represented on regional councils (equiv. to larger nation states), which are then represented on planetary councils, then finally a system wide council... each of which has unique responsiblities.

The main council is possibly a bit like the United Nations, except with a great deal more political power. Possibly all the systems have an elected representative, with the 8 or so most powerful systems (Beta Aquilae for sure, maybe Delta Serpentis, Vega, Capella) being on a sort of security council... the 'most powerful' systems could simply be those where a fleet is based, like Capella (5th fleet) pre-FS2, or the most populated. The actual voting 'power' of a system could be determined by it's population, economy or some other factor.

One point can be also notified: there are no systems recognized as ruled by a dictature. Only the Neo Terran Front was organized on that form.
Hovewer, after the war, there is a possibility of a fall of a government in one or more systems and a change of rules --> and you have a beginning of a plot of a campaign concerning restoring democracy.
