how come the upper right corner is tottally black and WHAMO the bintak IS OH SO BRIGHT the tottaly black planet would suggest no lihgt on it so it unlogical...

Maybe the ship isn't yet on the shadow of the planet/moon. And sun shines from the left still very brightly :]
Is the Bintak really that huge or does the shadow of that G'Quon hit the bintak in odd angle?  (Seen in the Middle)

No the MOD is not dead. many of us are just comming out of exam season wich brought some silence to this place. But thei're comming back (me not just yet) expect some news soon.  so keep comming.

Its called wanting to show people something other than complete darkness.
Space is pretty dark except when you've got the sun shining on something. Nonetheless, you still want to be able to see the rest of your ship in a picture like this or a game like FreeSpace. So its not totally black...its just appropriately dark. Its art...its not science. It wasn't meant to be science.
