Red Faction Watch: James Tsai interviewed

Posted by Alphakiller:

The guys over at HomeLand Fed just scored an interview with James Tsai (That'd be Associate Producer James Tsai, who works for Volition, in case you were wondering) about Red Faction 2.

You should click here to read it, and this is why:
First, James on development team goals: "With Red Faction 2 we hope to expand upon the technology we created in the original, incorporating Geo-Mods more strongly into gameplay . . . beef up our story and select a few features, such as multiplayer, that we thought we could add a lot to."

I could quote more, but there are about ten good quotes to choose from, so why not just read the article? Really, it's good reading.

Personally, I think the geo-mod improvements, the AI improvements, control improvements, plot and character improvements all look pretty promising. It'll be interesting to see what happens come Christmas, when V would like to put RF2 out the door.

How about this: They're unlikely to but they want to keep their options open?
Ever consider that as an option?

Christ, I hear "I can't talk about that" all the time, why are you getting so upset about it?

Is there anything I can do to keep those options open? God I love RF.....would really like to see it developed for the PC.

Can you manipulate and alter the flow of time or manipulate large objects? If by chance you can...then slow the speed that the Earth goes around the sun for a bit and let Volition finish the game twice before the year is out

Yeah, pretty much what Ice said. I'd love to see RF2 on PC as well, but that doesn't seem to be THQ's business plan, and considering THQ is shelling out the money for RF2's development ... I just don't think it's very likely at all.
