Name Hex

You know how during a multiplayer game there is usualy a person there with their name messed up. (they have padlocks and copyright signs in them) well i was wondering how they did it and what they did it with. so i would appreciate anyone telling me what it is or how i can get it.

No one answer this thread and I'd appreciate it if a Admin deleted this thread. Or at least locked it.

I'm sry but this information is very sensitive. Yes I have special character(s) in my name as well but this info must not fall into the hands of modders. I'm not saying ur a modder but this is an open forum. Many Modders probably do read this. Thus giving out that info would make RF even more unplayable then it is now.

anyways, on normal PC/IBM computers with windows installed, you can put in 'alt codes' for different ascii characters.

holding the ALT key and pressing certain numbers on the numberpad can result in various symbols, characters, etc.

ALT + 0123 = {
ALT + 0153 = â„¢
ALT + 0157 = 
ALT + 0159 = Ÿ
ALT + 157 = ¥
ALT + 174 = «
ALT + 175 = »
ALT + 145 = �_
ALT + 0169 = ©

etc.

Yea...Real ****ing good job man. Why dont you just remove the part of the forum on Red Faction because you arent supporting it, your killing it. What the hell is the big deal to have these gay ass symbols in your name. I am admin on 3 servers and right now its hell because we cant ban these asses using hex. All we can do is change the map and hope they dont have it. I can tell you must not play this game anymore, otherwise you would know of the problem.

You know what? This guy asked and got his question answered. If people are too lazy to go find out then tough. I don't care.

It's not killing anything in any way by spreading information. What if, for example, server admins who wanted to learn that - in order to kick cheaters with that info - read this thread, too?

This thread - in no way - is wrong. All he's doing is asking how to create ASCII code characters. The use to which he puts those characters is up to the individual and it is not your place to pre-judge him.

I just understand how bad it sucks when you have the same cheater using hex come back day after day after day after day and ruin the games and not be able to do anything about it.

OK yall can calm down about the entire thing. just forget that i ever said it in the first place. Anyway i found what i was looking for and it works fine.and Brando you dont use the alt-controls thats a completely different thing. i dont cheat so dont worry about it. but i do appreciate the friendly responses.

Im sorry to offend you Quazar, I didnt mean to call you a cheater. I am usually a pretty helpful person but being admin on servers I know how much of a problem this hex ordeal is getting to be.

Asci codes have nothing to do with active server admin. An IP ban is an IP ban. Yeah...it screws rcon users, but since when has THAT been an issue?

Anyone who runs three servers and can't figure out how to ban ip addresses needs to give up his servers.


Really folks, learn to handle yourself on a comp, or don't use one. Information is freely given and taken, so why don't you do a bit of reading up on ip bans? It's that easy. I do it all the time.
