"Aw, thanks!", he rambles at length.
Hullo chaps and chapesses.
I used to be a huge Babylon 5 fan, thrilling to the exploits of Sheridan and Ivanova and Bruce Willis... sorry, Garibaldi. Then came the first half of Season 5 which annoyed me immensely. Bah and indeed, humbug. However I still looked with fondenss upon a groundbreaking SF series that will always remain in my personal top three.
(With The Prisoner and ST:TNG)
Gradually, drinking and top obscure music superceded my love of the SF genre and my love of Babylon 5 began to fade.
(Fickle me)
Then I bought Freespace 1 & 2. Superb games both, with amusingly macho wing chatter. Meanwhile my B5 video collection gathered dust.
And then I found your website. Curious and remembering the only decent B5 TV movie, In The Beginning (which was mighty), I decided to download your modification.
I'm hooked on B5 again now. Drat.
It is no small achievement to capture the spirit and epic sense of such a quality TV show. In playing the exploits of a fighter pilot of Earth Force, the military in the TV show seems a whole lot more real and with more backstory than was actually written for it. The game has also managed to bring back the feeling of terror and mystery that the Minbari provoked in the first series and that was one of the few things that the TV movie didn't manage to entirely bring back. The mini-campaign is very enjoyable as a taster for what will hopefully soon prove to be as groundbreaking a mod as the TV show was for television science fiction.
And those Minbari beam weapons, eh? Cor! Disco light-show Minbari!
In summary (at last) please keep up the sterling work! I find it amazing that anybody would slave away so painfully over a game that is not only free but would dangerously attract annoying requests for more B5 features from obsessives like a bee-keeper made out of sticky buns. Please, buy yourself a nice ale, sit down to read a C.S Forrester Hornblower book whilst listening to some Kate Bush in a sunny park and thus reward yourself for such excellent work. You have got as close to the spirit and love of the TV show as I believe is possible. I would shake your hands but for fear of ending up stalking you in the hope of securing further releases.
Hurrah!
