Starchart Map?

Ok, so:

Sol - Delta Serpentis

Delta Serpentis - Ross 128??

Ross 128 - ??

or simply put:

how is sol linked to GTVA space?

So far I have got: (Form looking at FS2 maps in command briefings)

Why try to figure it out for yourself when someone already has done it.

Not official either. Mintaka and everything to it's left, Tau Sigma and every thing to it's left, N362 andCygnus X-1 aren`t part of the official map.

I think a fair few campaigns use this map though so there isn`t anything wrong with using it.
Generally you can make up as many new stars as you want. People will only complain if you get an existing star's nodes incorrect.

Not supposed to be official...designed for an expanded FreeSpace universe which is why I made it. It doesn't break continuity as far as I know...so the systems in FreeSpace 2 are all properly represented (although Capella/Gamma Draconis are obviously cut off).

nice, i've see 3 different ones and im sure there are many many more, but one thing that always bothers me is that Alpha Centauri is always so far from Sol, isnt it supposed to be the closest one to Sol at just over 4 lightyears? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

a/ The FS2 names don't correspond exactly to real systems.

or

b/ subspace is not relative to real space - i.e. the distances differ.

or

c/ There isn't a direct link possible between the two systems, as subspace nodes are a natural phonomena.

There have been so many nodemaps released, and after studing them, NONE are accurate to the original nodemap released for FS1. Sure Icefire has made some great maps, but all of them have either missing important systems, or important jump nodes, or sometimes are MISSING jump nodes. Its hard to just FIND the one accurate map...

The one in the reference bible has most of the systems and can be regarded as the most ACCURATE of the given systems, but it lacks the systems that are in FS2. There's no real nodemap that covers 99% of all campigns out there.

Or the chart just isnt drawn to scale, it is just a command breifing afterall.

Anyway, my fave starchart was the one for Frontier Ellite, it had everything in about the right place and didnt invent stars either!
... well... it did invent their planets... but the game would ahve been crap without them.

That might have something to do with the fact that the nodes in FS2 don`t match the ones from FS1 either!

The FS2 nodes are taken as the correct ones by almost everyone.

I know it's not meant to be official but some might not so I had to point out the star systems which weren't official

As for it not being the best of them to be honest I think it probably is (I like the BEL one too but even that was addapted from one of yours).
I tended to use the older version (which has mintaka as a nebula) myself but there were mistakes on that one so I had to stop and start using another one. This one is much better

BTW Even though Icefire's map is great I`d still highly recommend downloading the reference guide from the link I gave you. There's a lot more in there than just nodemaps
