This has to stop......
yo, me again.
Ok, now I've been hearing alota flack from B5 fans saying the shadows shouldn't be included, the vorlons will kick our asses,
well, in my opionion just because you like winning easily and not running froman enemy while frieghter pilots are screaming and your thourght is as soon as you enter the jump-gate is "I'm sorry, I had no choice," Well then in my opionin u shouldn't be playing TBP.
TBP is about, the vorlons, the shadows, running form invinceble enemies!!!
In B5, Sheridan said: I don't believe that an enemy is unbeatable...every ship has a weakness (Or something along those lines) now in TBP, you will have to put up with, running from battle crabs while telepaths get into posistion, holding till the ISA and the league get their to knock em back!
Afterall isn't that what happens in B5???
END

Ignore those fools who complain.
Or else my 'Associates' will have to deal with them
Besides, B5 was mostly ABOUT the Shadows, you know that little war they fought? It was kinda the WHOLE FRICKIN STORY!!!
Who wants them excluded anyway?

They will be included, as you say they are so integral to B5 it is hard to leave them out. That said, it doesn't mean that the balancing issue is not an incredibly difficult one. Also, TBP team have releases 2 and 3 to consider before work on release 4 (the First Ones, Drakh, etc.) begins in ernest.

First ones will undoubtelly be included in this MOD, the team has some model dummies already, we even consider some source code changes in purpose just for them , while not much has been determined or discussed I think there will be some of these ships avaiable right in R3 as this release is focused on alien designs, Skullars campaign even features shadow and vorlon ships, albeit very sporadicaly. EA ships inventory will be pretty much covered by R2.

Don't forget that there is now release 5 as well, but I doubt we'll have to worry about for the moment.
I think the main concern should be this: after release 2, will further releases be completely new downloads (making the time trying to get them even more time-consuming), or will they be created as expansion packs to the release 2 software?

Both types of download will probably have to be available to cater for both the people who don't have any of the TBP material and a smaller update style version for those who have all of the previous material. Don't expect any of the releases to be small though.

That's actually an interesting angle: what does the HUD of a Vorlon or Shadow vessel look like?

HUDS in "reality": a 360 by 360 view of all space surrounding you from infrared to high gamma ray wavelengths. Indicators for your power reserve? - unnecessary since it is practically infinite. Target shield and damge display? - unnecessary since your weaponry cuts through all things effortlessly. Order list? - unnecessary since you kill everything (Shadow) or kill everything you don't like (Vorlon). Communications?- telepathic. Missiles remaining? - no missiles.
In practice: lots of curvy stuff and weird shaped numbers - green and yellow for Vorlons, black and red for Shadows.

A HUD in real reality (not what you just made up there) stands for Heads Up Display. Its a small screen directly infront of the pilot in almost all fighter jets since the 1960's. The HUD is used because it displays alot of information (targeting, velocity, altitude, etc) on one screen so that the pilot doesn't have to look down into his cockpit all the time.
In FreeSpace, all you see is the HUD. Its great for games.
You won't be flying any Shadow or Vorlon vessels so there really isn't any point in speculating what the HUD would look like.
The few random and generally uninspired opinions of people on this board aren't going to change how this MOD works or what we'll be releasing. Your opinions are valued, but if three people say that we need a Bobo the Clown instead of a Sharlin - don't count on it happening.
