Hello there, guys. I'm an argentinean and misteriously, this crisis is hyper-stimulating my brain, each day dozens of ideas pass through my head. One of my friend sold his computer with everything it had, but before he sold it, he gave me this game called Freespace 2. He told me everything i had to know about the game and all its ideas about the game.
This is one my ideas:
The Ancients were something like slaves of the Shivans. This is because the Antients did not had any military power. But they were brilliant scientist, so the Shivans used them to develop non-military machines (like the device that track ships through subspace or the Knossos Portal).
One day, the Shivans meet a fouth race (hereafter called as the Fs or the F civilization) and, as you guess, a war began between the Shivans and the Fs. The Fs and the Shivans had the same military power. The Shivans discovered that the F civilization was governed through a system of Warlords. Each Warlord is given strategic locations to command and control. A single leader, called the Supreme Warlord, is chosen from the Warlords. Losing him would leave the Fs confused and in turmoil as the Warlords battle internally to determine a successor. This would remove any chance F has for creating a well-organized strike or defensive position. Then, the Shivans began a Project called The Lucifer, to destroy the Fs' homeworld and kill its Supreme Warlord. When the Lucifer was half-way finished the Ancients allied with the Fs and helped the Fs to infiltrate in Shiva Prime, F spies planted bombs in the most important nuclear plants in the Shivans' homeworld. When the Lucifer was finished, all the nuclear plants of Shiva Prime transmitted energy to the Lucifer to power its shield, this triggered the bombs in the most important nuclear plants and caused overload in the rest of the energy plants of Shiva Prime. These explosions caused severe ecological disruption and all the energy in Shiva Prime was drained. But, thanks to its Hive political-military system, the Shivans didn't suffered of any chaos or turmoil. The Lucifer ripped through all the F system with the main objective of oblirating the Fs' homeworld, and it succeeded. The internal fight for the control began, and the F armada demoralized rapidly. the Shivans easily erradicated the F-Ancient Alliance. 6000 after, we meet the Shivans and another war began.

I also did think about Shivan Vampires, but this idea is quite bizarre.

Dispell some absurdities.

Ancients did not create the Shivans, they met them.

The Ancients were a conquering war like civilization with a very good grasp of Subspace technology and a large empire.

The Shivans destroyed their empire...not for resources, not for territory, because. The motives we can assume is to preserve balance in the galaxy and prevent one species from conquering all.

The Ancients had inferior weapon technology and no shield technology than the GTA and the PVE had before The Great War. The Ancients did have superior subspace technology.

The Shivans are immensely powerful and their motives are a complete mystery. They are not interested in planets, they are interested in subspace nodes.

Alll of this is backed up by facts within the story. There is little to debate on these points. There are plenty of questions on Shivan origins and motives that can be debated.

Thought I would set the record straight. I've heard so many theories without any regard for simple facts gleaned in the game's tech rooms.

well, there is this one theory floating around somewhere that the Shivans were created by someone and some speculate that someone to have been the ancients....

Listen to the ancient monologues. They definately didn`t create the shivans. They encountered them and attempted to subdue them.

Not a bad theory by any means, but doesn't tally with FS1.

BTW, the Ancients are a very war-like race - the FS1 monlogues describe them crushing other species in their quest for an empie.

Then the meet the Shivans - "They were not like the others - they would not die"

(or summat). I'm assuming you don't have FS1?

somewhere i read that the ancients were supperior to the shivas they destroyed shivans like flyes but shivans had large numbers and they eventualy managed to kill the ancients
