Sorry if this was previously brought up... I read all the recent topics obviously related to the source code, but hadn't seen it mentioned.

Does access to the source code mean we no longer need a copy of FS2? While I own FS2 myself (it's one of my favorite games in recent years), many of my B5-loving friends don't.

With the source available, we can easily modify the game to remove the CD requirement (there's just a #define in one of the header files to change). We can now compile our own executables. Does the mod supply everything else needed?

no, there are quite a few interface art peaces that are still needed, though most of the more notesable ones have been changed

i dont see a problem with no-cd cracks, cus sometimes like in the early days of Diablo 2, the cd checking was so hard that it would'nt even read the original and i had to use a no cd to play the game. Its also a life saver for me having like 20 games installed at once and i want to change between games quickly its a sinch without the cd's

I agree with Skullar, this board can't condone the use of warez on games that are still on sale and not freeware, no matter what the intended use of the warez program is. If you want to use such programs then that's up to you but don't jeopordise the good name of the site.

So don't get the crack unless you actually coughed up for the game. It's not like Fs2 is a major investment. The Gamestop near me sell it for around ten bucks. (US) They also have FS1- I use that to practice flying without shields.

I never play online, so thats not an issue..
I have enough freaking CDs floating around on my desk, I dont need three more.... What do they care? I already payed for it..
I actually have 2 copies of the game cause Inteplay is on crack...
I sent one of my CDs away to be replaced.. they sent me back the origional version (I had the Sci-Fi Sim of the Year edition), so I bitched at them, and they just sent me the SF edition, didnt ask for the other back....
