change ambient lighting to 0 and make a sun somewhere =)

yeah.. plus: stars, anti aliasing; and I'd move the camera to a slight angle and closer to one of the ships

Better, still needs AA..
Judging by your sig, I assume you're using Lightwave?
Select the camera and hit "p" just choose the level of AA you want, Medium works fine...
