I have a mission up for testing, but unfortunately, when I upgraded my computer, I accidentally trashed my data directory. Don't worry, the mission is fine, it's just that the mod it went with is now backspaced about three versions And since I'll be away over the weekend, I won't have a chance to repair it. Well, I might...I'll just have to see.

It is a demo mission for a campaign I'm working on in my spare time. The campaign needs to be worked on, but the general concept is set about 20 years post-Capella, GTVA put finishing touches on Subspace Portal in hopes of returning to Earth. They open it, get dumped into hyperspace, find beacon network, wind up somewhere on the far side of Earth, where they come in contact with President Clark's Earth Alliance forces. Naturally, the xenophobes go chasing GTVA scouts back home, then there's a massive push that almost forces Delta Serpentis completely out of the GTVA's control. And then we find out that Bosch is still quite alive...

The funny twist is that there's a possibility that there may be an alternate story arc to "Endgame." Right now, I'm waiting for the next release since the campaign needs Omegas to be complete.

BTW, an opinion on Star Fury 40mm Pulse guns: Do you think they should be effective against shielding, or should they be in a position similar to the GTA's ML-16 Laser at the beginning of the Great War--not effective against shields but will weaken them over time? I'm thinking that Minbari weapons will remain as is, unless they will be tweaked in the next release.

I think we've set all of the TBP primary cannons to work fairly effectively against sheilds.

I know it's been a while, but...

I meant story-wise, would standard EA Plasma weapons be effective against shielding? Since Minbari weapons are neutron beams or the likes, I'm leaving them as is. In release 2, will Minbari weapons/ships be toned down some?

I've made some concessions on what ships will/will not make an appearance, and I took out a lot of the crap that fills the TBL space (read: the notes on TBL flags, etc.), so there's probably enough room for everything. If not, then I'll find some excuse for the Vasudans to not make an appearance. (not likely, but I can try). The Shivans will most definitely make an appearance, and we find out that Shivans become disoriented in hyperspace.

BTW, right before I trashed my comp, I tested the mission on Insane...there's absolutely no way you can beat it. Trust me on this. If the Star Furys don't frag you straight off, the heavy cruiser that follows them in most certainly will...(this was with the weakened 40mm Pulses). I thought myself an accomplished pilot. 45 seconds after the Furies jumped in I was free-floating wreckage. Damn Herc IIs are slow

My biggest distraction lately: Calculus and HTML homework and a buttload of Homeworld Cataclysm explaining why I haven't posted lately and why I haven't got much of anything done over the course of a few weeks.

Now I've got a mix CD I need to make for a friend and I also need to get cracking on finishing reworking the TBLs...ah, the joys of multitasking.

I don't think the Minbari are going to be toned down much if at all. I was pretty happy with their balance....but we'll see in the face of other ships.

Basically the Sharlin is the middle ground between everyone else and the First Ones....so the First One ships have to be able to beat a Sharlin and everyone else has to not be able to or almost beat a Sharlin. The Excalibur and Warlock will be interesting ones...

But thats just one on one anyways....but thats how I do the basics, then I setup fleet engagements to test how the ships function. An EA Omega can do some damage to a Sharlin (about 40 to 60 percent damage) if it gets the chance to fire. So a group of Omega's could probably beat up on a Sharlin if they moved wisely...on the other hand, a single Sharlin could probably massacre that same group if it attacks from a different angle. Its all about total balance....no worries, its well in hand.

Then again, look at balance. A Centauri cruiser, for example, should get creamed in short order by a Starfury squadron if it doesn't have its own fighter support. So logically, just make it weaker than a Sharlin.

Not only is that canon, but it fits in gameplay-balance perfectly. See? Icey and company did their homework
