Question Trade secrets

Howdy

Been going over lot of CG images of B5 the last couple of days.

How do you do it? I know something about working with CAD software and have (limited) experiance with 3DMAX a few years ago.

Do you actually build the models? or are the models being swapped between people? And the textures? how on earth do you get the textures?

Are there any demo versions of the software? (Lightwave)

Thanks!

I think you may be under the mistaken impression that we're the people who made the special effects for Babylon 5.. this is a game mod called The Babylon Project, and yes, we make the models for that.

I think he means the renders by the likes of Reaperman, Anduril, Mathew Tarling and Nadab Goksu... as well as some ppl's desktops.

Well, Flounder, this board is not for that, but I'll tell you anyway.

There are many B5 fans online who know how to use Lightwave 3D and 3D Studio MAX (both cost over $2000 and no demos).

So these fans create models AND textures and put them online. Thru swapping everyone has all the models, and we can then make pictures and even movies. Some ppl like Nadab Goksu ( eon3D.com ) are very talented and hard working and he's created almost half of the ships seen on B5, where as other modellers such as myself, are tired after 1 model.

So if you want to get other people's images for personal collection, just search yahoo. If you want to make your own, its harder than it looks, and you'll first have to acquire the software.

Once you get the software, there are websites that have available for download almost all available 3D models of B5 ships. such as http://www.tp2b.de/

If you dont want work, only entertainment, for movies go to spacebattles.com ( since this is done by fans, there are no restrictions, they even have some Babylon 5 vs STar trek vs Star wars movies).
