MS Forcefeedback Pro and WinXP
I have a microsoft sidewinder forcefeedback pro and I'm running windows xp. Everything on xp is running like a dream except my joystick. The joystick installs correctly and works fine. There are just 2 settings I can not get to on the joystick. I want to make my return to center option to a more rigid setting and I want the forcefeedback to be greater. Anyone know I can get at those options in WinXP?

Install the latest control panel. You have the drivers but there's also the extra control panel pack. You can download it off their site. That probably has the specific controls. Just like before.

Do you have a link to that control panel?

Been there last night. Didn't see an update for control panel and I've done all the windows updates for WinXP already.

I think Ice means control panel for the joystick, not for Windows.

If he is talking about Game Controler software 4.0 I'm not sure if it is out yet. Any one else know?

Thats the one...Game Controller stuff. I bet there is a new XP version. IF not, probably 3.0 works just as well. Download that,

Alright heres a real kicker for ya: I have that smae joystick and set the control panel as such, however when I start up FS2 it either removes the joystick or cahnges it to a different designation(eg. Sidewinder FF Pro to Gravis Game Master or some such). Anyone know anything about this. I will try downloading new drivers but every little bit helps.

Xaphod: I think Force Feedback sticks have an extra 'layer' inbetween the game and the 'stick to do the force feedback effects. Not sure though, I hate 'em personally. Can't get me away from my Precision Pro, though.

I've been having some problems with my MS FF Pro stick too; namely, it won't give me FF effects in game all the time. When I boot up FS2 it either gives me full FF support or nothing at all like a regular joystick. Weird...
Oh, the drivers that came with the joystick don't seem to be supported by XP. XP comes with its own set of drivers for the device but their reliance is questionable in light of this recent development.

Sorry but Microsoft is not going to update it's game controller software, they don't work with W2k and XP.
So far M$ does not have any plans to update the software, W2k and XP recognizes game controllers fine, and controllers works just fine. But you have to live without programmable buttons.
Edit: version 3 IS NOT compatible with W2k and XP. I don't know about version 4, but it is available only with newer game controllers, not available as download.

Please do because I can't stand my ffpro not returning to center and hardly having any forcefeedback.

And it would be really nice to stop having it switch the names of the joystick on me.

Which GeForce and which drivers? I'm having no display driver problems at all. Usually its a configuration error rather than the OS....or it could be the driver itself.
