i have a feeling this might take up where the alst one left off but hey i dont mind hehehe - i had a comment to add in the last one - but yup battle crab would slaughter the victory unless the vic had telepaths aboard then the battlecrab would be slaughtered - withough some major advantage in either numbers or otherwise the first ones will never loose - i would put money on a vorlon transport over the victory =) burn straight through it - with the shadows you can at oleast stop them with telepaths vorlons it just has to be numbers but 2 vics could probally take battle crab although it depends on what range the shadows can engage at they might be able to sit out of range of the vics and destroy them but logic would suggest that vorlon gun could reach them but a shadow ship could probally evade it - it takes afew secs to power up and that takes power from amnevering which means its gives the shadow ship enough time to evade after the shot is take a shadow ship can move in and slice that ship to pieces

now jsut to add a little comment about the omega from the alst topic - in the ep where they go to io or where ever it is moon or jupiter and destroy a show ship the omega is seen firing a beam from its defence pod turrets - that suggests that all the turrets on the omega can either fire a pulse weapon for anti fighter operations or anti cap ship beam - this gives it good all round firepower and not a ship that is safe to aproad from any direction- definatly a lethal ship

but to restate the main this for this topic - shadows and vorlons can take the victory - thats encluding the smallest battlecrab and the vorlon transport but they have to be better positioned to win - where as the bigger ships the large battlecrabs and vorlon dreadnaughts its not even a fight its a slaughter same goes for the other first ones - as they showed some tremendous firepower when destroying the planet killer

also like to add in that very scene it might jsut have been the begining of the destruction but i thought it looked like a sheild grid receeding over its surface cause i think an explosions would have been abit quicker and the destruction came quite soon after

I don't want to pick up the debate yet (but knowing me I will by tomorrow ) but I think that it raises the point about telepaths in the mod. Will they be included?

While writing this I suddenly realised what a dumb question this is as using Fred 2 you can easily include the events. I do have a question though, how do you set up events that alternate a ships status as you move closer and then further away again? By this I mean that how do you set up a repeat situation where a telepath stuns a Shadow vessel, then moves out of range, then moves back into range?

all those hypothetic discussions are completely stupid.

Battle is a highly dynamic situation. You can't just take values like FIREPOWER , ARMOR , SPEED and MANEUVERABILITY and calculate who would win !

Stop this stupid discussions ! You have never encountered combat situations , hmm ? Ask the russians why they lost 2 complete armies to the finnish defenders in WW2 , ask the Americans why they lost vietnam , ask The germans why they lost the battle as KURSK , ask the persians why they lost at THERMOPHYLAE .......... do I have to go on ?

What about other issues like
- strike and fade attacks ( decloak , shoot , cloak )
- reaction time ( battlecrab reacts as fast as a boxer ( ship is like body of pilot ) while Victory crew has to push triggers or whatever... )

At least due to point 2 I favor the crab, but the only acceptable answer is "..... well , it depends on the situation"

That could easily be done through the use of the <, >, distance, add-goal, protect-ship, etc....SEXPs.

Skullars right.

If the sitation was reversed from what Skullar described, the Victory could win easily. But the Battlecrab could just as surely turn the tables and win.

Now why don't we start a new thread called Shadow Battlecrab VS. Narn Frazi.

The only way the Frazi could win is if the Battlecrab just had several galactic sized Tequilas followed by some Vodka. But then, that depends on the situation too

Shadowcran vs. Frazi? Depends on if Sheridan has done any tinkering with the Frazi...

Realistically, a Frazi could take out a battlecrab. First, the pilot would need to be a Telepath. Second...... they would need to be suicidal. Stop the crab, and then see what a few tons of metal moving at six kilometers per second does to that crab.

it ALWAYS depends on the situation, crew experience and reaction times, and sometimes just plain blind luck or divine intervention (or both).

okay, I have my doubts about a drunken howler monkey in a spacesuit being able to take on a battlecrab, but you never know.

And on that note, I don't want this turning into another Victory vs. Sharlin thread. Man, someone start an IRC channel called #b5-versus or something so you can all debate to your hearts content.
