want to be an officla mission designer with full access to the ftp?

If your interested in our mod, and would like to become a team member, (with access to all the latest areas of the mod)

submit a entry mission to :
icefire@telefragged.com

we are looking for 2 or 3 mission designers who will produce a number of missions based on the current release package to keep the community happy for a while until release 2 is finalised (some way off yet although progress is being made at a steady rate)

the entry mission my be b5 or original fs2 based and dont worry about voice acting etc, we arent looking for that. if you are acceptabled you will have access to members who will help with all your voice acting needs.

the quality we are looking for is that comparable to the missions we released offically with the pack (or better!)

we arent desperate, but it would be nice to step up the mod from a small diversion in freespace 2 to the biggest and best mod for the game, which hopefully release 2 will provide with its 30 or so ships and a nice suprise!

You know the score we wont accept any rubbish in our mod so get making them missions ! (please?)

Well I'm designing a mission now. but I'm a bit out of practice so it will probably not be quite at your quality

Is there any chance that when Release 2 is finished, its please not another 100MEG+ job, but an update installer that just adds the new components to the original MOD folders?

Well, wouldn't that be the idea? Why would we include the same content again?

It'll be whatever size it has to be. We'll have new sounds, models, textures, and undobutedly music. Stuff like interface is already done (unless someone does a new main screen - but thats not a massive change) and so on.

It'll be whatever size it has to be. We ARE download conscious, even if it doesn't look like we are.

Question

I noticed CptWhite said that regular FS2 missions can be sent in. Are we restricted to sending new ones made specifically for this purpose, or would be okay if we submitted old missions?

[edit] Also, will we have to come up with our own ideas for missions from scratch, or will you guys have a set of guidelines for us to follow when making one mission or another? [/edit]

I think it would be nice if we sent new ones, that's my opinion only of course. When this thread was posted I was making a mission that was almost ready, so I Sent it. But ones that have been released earlier are not a good idea IMHO.

BTW Icefire(or whoever test the submitted missions), do you think that the setting of my mission would fit well for a mini campaign. Would definitely be a different approach for the Earth-minbari war. You could make that(or a better copy of it ) the first or second mission and then continue the plot from there.

Not sure pera. Once we get the entries in, we'll look at where to go.

One final question, hope I'm not pissing you off too badly.

As I said, I sent an entry mission to you. Should I post this same mission to terrasquadrons site.

The reason I'm asking is that as I said, the mission could be a good start for a mini-campaign, and I'd liko to know how soon can you tell if I can make "official" missions or not, so that I know if to start actually making this campaign on my own.

I am working on a few missions just now, not quite complete
but almost. However the one thing I have never really worked
out how to do properly is backgrounds. I could if I spent enough
time on it but I usually don't have the time. Anyway what I was
wondering is would whoever it was that made the missions
for the first release mind if I borrowed (ie stole) the backgrounds
they used? If you would rather I didn't use them it's no problem,
it just means it will take me longer to get the missions out.
Let me know one way or the other. Thanks.

I don't think it's illegal to use other peoples backrounds. But anyway, It's not that hard to make you own, you should probably try it, it's not very hard.

If you can't make your own background then that is a serious problem.

It's not that I can't, I just don't have the time. I prefer working
on the story and making sure everything does what it is
supposed to. I always leave the background until last and
by the time I get round to that I usually have an idea for a
new mission which I want to start right away. Maybe I'll wait
until I have a few missions complete then try backgrounds for
them all at the same time.
