I make a serious point and a select group of nerds crucify me..

I was trying to make a serious point about the size of the dounloads for the mod and a few of you tried to make it out that i was whining and were'nt interested in what i was trying to say. I was trying to suggest that you could seperate the huge 75mg downlaod in 10mg chucks. i'm sure the 75mgs isn't one hole file. I admit i don't know a clue about modding or programming(and if anyone would teach me send me an e-mail), and you made the point about compressing the files down to 1.3mgs but why did you have to attack me. I'm not whining, i don't think there's a virus in every downlaod, i mearly voiced a generall concern that 75mg for a download ( snigle doanload winzip/enzip file) was too much for some people as my self to take in one go. on my modem it would have taken (as 75mgs) 6.45 housr aprox. maybe longer if the lines were busy. some of us don't have the time to spend 7 hours waiting by a computer. pratically the whole day if you start at 12.00. so what happens if theres a crash half way through or if youv'e got dodgy btsoftware like mine just cut the connection randomly as it has while i'm writing this now. so if anyone has any similar concerns as mine say something before the nerds who have no life other thatn to sit infront of a computer all day and don't set foot into the outside world put me down again.

one other thing i wanted to mention is why don't you just put it into managable 10 meg files. for some and whole files for the nerds

Oh god... there's been many programs out there for years that allows you to resume downloads later, so crashing or disconnection rarely matters.

I don't want to have a fall out as well but I honestly don't know what to tell you bud. The team already explained that they can't make it any smaller. Do you have access to PCs at school with a fast connection and cd burner, or do you know of anyone that that can DL it for you and put it on a cd or something? Otherwise just try to talk to you parents about the virus thing. Because as stated before it is easier to get a virus through email then in a downladed file.

One last thing you can try is to get a program like download accelerator that can pause downloads from you to resume later. By the way it sounds you want the files to be broken down into smaller files to download of the course of several days. With a program like that you can download a little bit pause it and when you connect to the internet again continue downloading it. Otherwise I don't know what to tell you.

you're still not coming up up with any useful or easy solutions .

what is it with you poeple. i'm not going to downlaod unessary programs on to my hardrive that could screwup my computer and don't you dare say they don't because i've had my fare share of cocked up programs to learn a thing or to. there is a simple solution break the f**kin files down smaller and make it easier for everyone. so we don't have to get up in the middle of the night to doanlaod or doanlaod any poxy programs you pillock.

Ok I give up. If you don't want to listen and try all I have to say is tough sh!t for you then. Find your own way to get it. We try to help you and this is the response we get. Let me make this clear for you the team already said THE FILES CAN'T BE MADE ANY SMALLER. It can't be made any clearer than that.

please read it again ranger i was'nt calling you a pillock. i don't want them smaller. it says on the homepage basic install FILES, meaning mor than one can't you just take 10 megs of those file and put it into a single downlaod. it would mean more downlaods but i don't mind i'm the one asking for it.

if you have 56k modem then download dap from speedbit.com it will boost your speed and its only 3 megs i think so stop arguing down it and start downlading the camp

it doesn't matter what i say. i made a point in the thread"compressed". a guy said 75 megs is to big for ONE SINGLE DOWNLAOD OF FILES. another guy said he was whining so steped in and said hell the guys making a serios point. then a load of poeple come at me aggresively making the same suggestions over and over again not getting the point of the discussion. i apologise for calling certain poeple pillocks but i got so mad when the cycle started all over gain again. and I DID NOT CALL RANGER A PILLOCK

If the big file will be split into a small ones it will be done... or it might be done. I'm not to decide from that, but next best solution is Gozilla or Getright... they won't screw up your computer properly used...

Badboy, I just don't get it. You haven't given us a single reason why you can't get a download manager. You see you don't have to have small 10 mb downloads because you can download a big file in 10mg bits. And no download managers DO NOT mess up your computer, period.

your obviously young and obviously not fully confident in your PC. fine i can understand your concern with downloading a package, that if it caused problems you might not be able to fix yourself. well there aint anything we can do about that. most of the babylon project files are data files anyway, these cannot harbour viruses to my knowledge.

we release in these chunks after lengthy discussion, we can get it out faster and its simple this way, the primary concerns for our fans. 10 Mb files are very impractical and will cause more problems than solutions on the whole (although it would be possible, its a lot of effort and very time confusing and unorganised). Everyone has a download manager these days im on 56k Btinternet and i use getright, file size really needant be a problem anymore. as for your parents well we cant help you there. your solution is simple get getright and download via that. if your mum and dad or you have a problem with that, then sorry we cant help you. you dont see counter strike beng released in 10mb chunks do you. we've split it down already 75 is not a rediculous size - about 4/5 hours downloading on a 56k then you will have the mod. extras can be downloaded while you play

I am using a 56k modem too and I have a download manager, thing is I am running on aol and now and again it has days when it loves booting me off, thats why I got a d/l manager I downloaded a mod for half life called the opera and it is bigger than 75 meg if I'm not mistaken, 90 meg or something I think it was. I never paid any atention to it I started my download and then went and had a nice cup of tea while watching in the beginning and a call to arms (My fav is still in the beginning).
when I had finished watching tv it had finished, trust me using a d/l manager correctly has been easy to learn how to do, I never knew how to use it but I learned.
I only have a puny Pentium 3, 700mhz 319 meg ram and a voodoo banshee. but I still manage

I have a 56k modem too and i´ve downloaded over hundred meg packages like Buda5 Raiders. I will have myself DSL within 2 weeks (in finland it costs about 30 pounds/month). Mod size is fine for me.
